Three account books with business and personal entries. The account book from 1857 to 1859 contains entries related to lumber, shingles, and other Albemarle Swamp Land Company business, and the book from 1868 to 1869 contains entries related to land in Suffolk, V.A. The account book from 1859 to 1861 contains numerous entries related to food, agriculture, clothing and textiles, and other wares and supplies.
The account book from 1859 to 1861 contains a few pages with a list of people's names and the clothing each person was allotted--the names are likely those of enslaved people. Former call number S:3462.
