"The film revolves around the television serial. It is structured around the premise that Chilean reality does not exist; rather, it is a collection of soap operas. There are four audiovisual provinces, and one can feel the war between the factions. Political and economic problems are dissolved into a fictional jelly divided into afternoon episodes. All of Chilean reality is treated from the point of view of the telenovela and serves as a revealing filter of that very reality." (Translation: Duke GPT and Google Translate).
Raúl Ruiz (poetastros.com, accessed 2026 March 3).
In 2017, the four picture and sound reel pairs for La Telenovela Errante included here were used to finish the film Raul Ruiz began in 1990 and never completed. The Chilean company that produced the film, Poetastros, had the reels cleaned and scanned for the production. The resulting digital files were added to the collection, along with a copy of the completed film. Earlier digital copies of the reels, with the sound synchronized to the picture, were created on a Steenbeck film editing table as reference for Poetastros, and are included here. Elements of A TV Dante (El Infierno) -- specifically RL01119-F16-0051_0054, RL01119-F16-0105, RL01119-F16-0107, and RL01119-F16-0109 -- which Ruiz produced the following year (1991), were also used in the production of La Telenovela Errante.
