Includes privately circulated memorandums; his columns for Newsweek and the Wall Street Journal, along with other journalistic pieces; articles and talks from throughout his career, including drafts; and material related to four major projects. Those projects are: 1) A Monetary History of the United States, 1867-1960; 2) Monetary Trends in the United States and the United Kingdom; 3) "Monetary Statistics of the United States" (all three co-authored with Schwartz); and 4) The Essence of Friedman (a collection of previously published essays). Arranged chronologically, starting with memos.
