Home movies of MDBTS as a child then adult, with Mary Duke Biddle, Anthony J. Drexel Biddle Jr., Nicholas Duke Biddle, Elizabeth Gotham, Josiah C. Trent, Mary S. Trent, James H. Semans, and her children. Locations include the properties Linden Court (Irvington), Sarmiento (Palm Beach), Chetwode (Newport), Pinecrest (Forest Hills), and Les Terrasses (Bivins), as well as travel and vacation scenes. Of note is MDBTS ' first wedding in 1938 at Pinecrest then honeymoon in Europe and her second weeding in 1953 at Linden Court then trip back to Durham. The originals are on 8mm, 16mm, and 35mm film, with the 35mm being duplicates probably made in the 1940s from hazardous nitrate stock.

Access restricted. Access to this material will be consistent with the 1991 agreement between Duke University Library, James H. Semans, and Mary Duke Biddle Trent Semans. Access to any correspondence, legal papers, and financial papers is restricted and will be permitted only with prior written permission, which should be sought from the chair of the board of the Mary Duke Biddle Foundation. This restriction shall be in place until 1 January 2027, after which all material shall be considered open for research.
