Access to this material will be consistent with the 1991 agreement between Duke University Library, James H. Semans, and Mary Duke Biddle Trent Semans. Other organizations that are not Duke University or its Medical Center, The Duke Endowment, or the North Carolina School of the Arts, although they may be connected, such as grant proposals from NCSA to the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. The largest files are on the Executive Mansion Fine Arts Committee, Mary Duke Biddle Foundation, National Paraplegia Foundation, North Carolina Museum of Art, and Operation Breakthrough in Durham. Most organizations are located in North Carolina, but there are some national arts organizations.
It is worth noting that a file on the Human Betterment League of North Carolina was never found. This seems odd, given all of the other files and that fact that MDBTS' name appears on their letterhead as a member of the Board of Directors (circa 1958-1975).
