Scope and content:

Home movies of MDBTS and her family, and audio and video recordings from James H. Semans related to the North Carolina School of the Arts and his memoirs. There are also radio segments and television interviews, awards and speeches, and funeral services.

Arrangement:

Organized into five subseries: Home Movies, North Carolina School of the Arts, Coming of Age, Other Audio Recordings, and Other Video Recordings.

Access to any correspondence, legal papers, and financial papers is restricted and will be permitted only with prior written permission, which should be sought from the chair of the board of the Mary Duke Biddle Foundation. This restriction shall be in place until 1 January 2027, after which all material shall be considered open for research.
