Publicity Clock founded 1914 in New York by inventor John Upton Barr, later sold to Louis Neuberger and managed by son Leslie L. Neuberger. Publicity Clock was active from 1914 through the 1930s; supplied peripheral advertising services to theaters and businesses under its own name as well as under other entities (Sidewalk Ad Service, Ad-Traction Phantom Clock). Located at 105 West 40th St. in New York City. The Publicity Clock Company placed advertisements in local movie theaters by means of the Publicity Clock, a device that projected the image of a working clock face with a repeating sequence of advertisements displayed within the dial. Sidewalk Ad Service designed an advertisement, then "broadcast" it via a light beam onto the sidewalk in front of the business. The company's slogan read: "Your complete sales message told in bright colorful light--where every passerby must see it!"
