Chiefly speeches given to local businesses and clubs, mostly by James Southgate and James Southgate Jones, and memorials; clippings about speeches; articles and drafts of articles about Durham, local families and prominent citizens, some of which were written by Southgate Jones and published as a series in the Durham Morning Herald in 1945; children's stories; poetry written by family members; and a draft of an autobiography written by James Southgate Jones. Contains fragments and some anonymous writings. Arranged chronologically.
