Scope and content:

Note 1: Dec 1963 or January 1964. W. Eugene Smith in room, talking. CDI 1. Bass, drums, piano. Midsong. Alcohol or photographic chemicals discussed. 2. Another trio tune with restart. 3. "Gene" and "Eugene" (Smith) addressed by musicians. Small talk. Microphones discussed and described "they don't have that many in record studios." "They went out to get some coffee." Eddie, George, coffee, Christmas, Iclealand, "juice" (all mentioned). Saxophone joins in with more quiet talk. 4. Piano over tlak and into song with sax, bass drums, piano. 5. "Warne" or "Warren" addresssed. SMITH interjects over the conversation to more the microphone and reccorder audibly on the tape. CDII 1. Smith talking again about the recording equipment and process in detail then goes into bass, drums, sax, piano song continued from previous side 2. Talk under sax riffing. "Hey, what chord do you play in that, Eddie?", trumpet, "Pete", "I don't know the lyrics, man." More talking after long tune with several solos.
