CD3 'Issues and Answers' continued through track 3. TV talk show re: juvenile delinquency through track 12. CD4 trs.1-7 TV commercials/talk show re: education featuring Strom Thurmond and Sen. Keating. CD5 trks 1-2 Conversation at the Loft: Pierce, Smith and a woman talking at first. Someone asks "Are you Gene Smith the photographer?", he says, "No, I'm Gene Smith the recording engineer." Group talking about recent robbery of photography equipment. Trk. 3, convo w/ man (Pierce?) and Smith about different developing chemicals for photos (hypo-rapid non-hardener). Someone else comes in telling Smith about a "Gypsy jazz guitarist" that he has recorded. Says guitarist played w/ Reinhardt. Guy wants to bring tapes for Smith to hear to Loft. Smith says he is planning to make a 'sound portrait' for the photos he is taking. Talks about Reinhardt going 'electric'. Trk. 4: Lou Draper comes in and they are trying to get 4 people to play bridge. Discuss Miranda Tape Machine? Trk. 5-10 Loft convo continues, Smith tells about State Dept. staffer who wants to use one of his photos as propaganda. Smith writes letter to them and they ask him to be some type of correspondent though he points out that he is a subversive. By trk. 10, Smith needs to mail something and woman asks if he has postage money. He (Smith) turns on TV to watch "Omnibus" hosted by Allistair Cooke. Tracks 11-16 are plays on "Omnibus". Play by Eugene Iunesco (sp?) is performed. Show called "Firece, Funny and Far Out'. CD6 Trks.1-9 are "Omnibus", then the remainder of track 9-14 is TV show, "Meet the Press". Trks. 2-7 "The 20th Century" featuring story about a Burmese physician (American living in Burma). Someone is moving the mic around until the commercials are over and show starts again.
