The SNCC Legacy Project was established in 2010 following the 50th anniversary of the founding of SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, founded April 1960) to collect, preserve history, and analyze the organization's work from the inside out, centering the experiences of SNCC veterans. It seeks to expand SNCC's legacy, continuing to pursue freedom, justice, and liberty.
Some of the SLP's major projects include the SNCC Digital Gateway website; the Voting Rights Conference (2015); the Our Story, Our Terms project (2021-2024); and critical oral histories and teaching partnerships with various movement members and freedom organizations. It also participated in SNCC's 60th anniversary conference (2021).
