The volume contains religious materials, primarily hymns and poetry, including hymns by Samuel Stennett (beginning p. 53), along with some verse. A few pieces are in Latin, and many pieces are tied to Biblical verses. Corrections and additions to the text are common.

Rev. Joseph Stennett (1692-1758) was a Baptist minister in London; one of his sons, Samuel Stennett (1728-1795), also became a Seventh Day Baptist minister and was author of many hymns.

- The Stennett family hymns, poetry, and verse, 1708-1795 were received by the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book Manuscript Library as a transfer in 2011.
