The collection includes invitations, clippings, scrapbooks, and an audio recording with remarks from several speakers at the events, including Terry Sanford and Mary Duke Biddle Trent Semans.

Biographical / historical:

In 1979 Duke University held a series of events celebrating the life of Benjamin Newton Duke. The celebration recognized the debt owed by Trinity College and the University to Ben Duke, and featured remarks by Terry Sanford, Robert F. Durden, Angier Biddle Duke, Mary Duke Biddle Trent Semans, and Anthony Drexel Duke, among others.

Acquisition information:
The Celebration of the Life of Benjamin Newton Duke collection were received by the University Archives as a transfer in 1980.
