Chi Omega is a women's fraternity founded in 1895, and is the largest women's fraternal organization in the world. The Mu Kappa chapter was founded at Duke University on November 6, 1976. Mu Kappa Chapter (Duke University) records include several packets of information issued by the Chi Omega national headquarters as well as limited materials specifically related to the Mu Kappa Chapter and the Durham Chi Omega Alumnae Chapter.

Scope and content:

The Chi Omega Fraternity. Mu Kappa Chapter (Duke University) records include several packets of information issued by the Chi Omega national headquarters as well as limited materials specifically related to the Mu Kappa Chapter and the Durham Chi Omega Alumnae Chapter. Information from the national headquarters include an advisor's handbook, a guide to academic success, and information on the financial management of the local chapter. Included with the financial handbooks are brief summary annual reports of the Mu Kappa Chapter's finances; other Mu Kappa and Durham materials include an alumnae newsletter and programs from Eleusinian banquets.

Biographical / historical:

Chi Omega is a women's fraternity founded in 1895, and is the largest women's fraternal organization in the world. The Mu Kappa chapter was founded at Duke University on November 6, 1976. Chi Omega is a social organization that also actively supports the Make-A-Wish foundation and promotes scholarly achievement as well as personal development. Annual activities of note include social events such as the Harvest Moon and My Tie dances, fundraising activities for the Make-A-Wish Foundation such as Scoop-a-Dish for Make-A-Wish and Swishes for Wishes, and Eleusinian Founder's Day teas.
