Abstract:
Frank Ditmars Dennis, a white Methodist minister, was born on September 28, 1916. He attended Duke University from 1934 to 1938 and went on to study at Drew Theological Seminary for his graduate degrees. This collection includes materials related to Frank Dennis' time as a student at Duke University such as photographs, materials related to Glee Club, music compositions, and a scrapbook documenting his first year at Duke.

Background

Scope and content:

This collection includes materials related to Frank Dennis' time as a student at Duke University. Consists of photographs depicting images of Frank Dennis, Duke's campus, and a Blue Devil banner for a Duke-Georgia Tech football game; music compositions; materials from Glee Club; and a curriculum vitae for Dennis. Collection also contains a scrapbook with material from Dennis' first year at Duke including some correspondence about Dennis getting a fulltime summer job in Duke University Libraries and programs for men's basketball games from the 1934-35 season under Coach Eddie Cameron.

Biographical / historical:

Frank Ditmars Dennis, a white Methodist minister, was born on September 28, 1916. He attended Duke University from 1934 to 1938 and went on to study at Drew Theological Seminary for his graduate degrees. During his time at Duke University, Dennis participated in Men's Glee Club, the Undergraduate Ministerial Association, and Men's Student Government; was a member of Omicron Chi Epsilon; and worked in the Orders Department of Duke University Libraries, which was sponsored by the Federal Emergency Relief Administration. He developed a career as a pastor and worked as director of Christian Outreach Project. Frank Dennis died on January 08, 2006.
