- Sarah Jane "Sally" Deutsch is Professor Emerita of History at Duke. She joined the faculty in 2004 where she served as chair of the Department of History from 2004-2006 and was Dean of the Social Sciences at Trinity College of Arts and Sciences from 2006-2009. This collection contains administrative, and course materials related to the History department and campus life at Duke University; and correspondence related to conferences, publications, and professional organizations. The collection also includes drafts of papers and notes for lectures given by others.

This includes meeting agendas, reports, syllabi, and course notes as well as correspondence about the Duke lacrosse team case. The collection also consists of correspondence related to conferences, the American West Series, and professional organizations like the American Council of Learned Societies and Organization of American Historians. Also contains drafts of papers and notes for lectures given at Duke by others.

Sarah Jane "Sally" Deutsch is Professor Emerita of History at Duke. She joined the faculty in 2004 where she served as chair of the Department of History from 2004-2006 and was Dean of the Social Sciences at Trinity College of Arts and Sciences from 2006-2009. She studied at Yale University and at Oxford University. She described her research as "engag[ing] issues of difference, particularly racial, gender, class, and spatial formations." Deutsch has written and published several journal articles, chapters, and books.
