- Biographical / historical:

John M. Fein was born in 1922. He received his B. A. (magna cum laude), M. A. and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard University. He began his career at Duke University in 1950 as Assistant Professor of Romance Languages, gradually earning a promotion to full Professor in 1963 and also served as Chair of his department. In 1974, Dr. Fein was named Dean of Trinity College of Arts and Sciences. He is currently Professor Emeritus, Spanish.
