This series largely consists of minutes, agenda, correspondence, and reports from committees, most of which Gavins served on, such as the Center for Documentary Studies (CDS) Board of Directors, the Behind the Veil (BTV) Advisory Board, Minority Affairs Recruitment, Advisory Committee on the Recruitment of Black Faculty Members, Academic Council Committee on Black Faculty, Anne Firor Scott Research Fund search committee, and Duke Zimbabwe Exchange Committee. Also contains records for the Graduate School, the Department of History, the Summer Transitional Program, and correspondence from Gavins' time as Director of Graduate Studies, History.
