Background

Scope and content:

The collection contains minutes, correspondence, memoranda, reports, brochures, newsletters, flyers, reference files, financial records, rosters, and other records generated in the operations of the Lutheran Campus Ministry, its predecessor organizations, and the religious life staff at both Duke University and North Carolina Central University.

Biographical / historical:

A Lutheran Student Association was organized on campus in 1925 with 14 students. The present Lutheran Campus Ministry serves students at Duke and North Carolina Central University. It is supported by the Lutheran Campus Ministry Council of Durham, NC which is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod.

Acquisition information:
The Lutheran Campus Ministry Records were received by the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book Manuscript Library as a transfer in April, 2000.

For a period of twenty-five years from the origin of the material, permission in writing from the office of origin and the University Archivist is required for use. After twenty-five years, records that have been processed may be consulted with the permission of the University Archivist.
