Scope and content:

Primarily the records of fifteen seasons of chamber music concerts sponsored by the Society and Duke University from 1985-2000. Includes contracts, artist biographies, printed materials. amd approximately 200 black-and-white publicity photographs and 35mm slides of most performers. Records are arranged chronologically by season except for the first few folders of the series, which hold miscellaneous information about the history of the Society before its official connection with Duke was made permanent in 1975. Related materials in the Duke University Archives can also be found in the records and papers of Ernest W. Nelson, a professor of history who founded the Society in 1945.
