Scope and content:

Collection contains audio and video recordings, photographs, financial records, correspondence, scrapbooks, and materials relating to performances and events. Includes CDs, cassette, VHS, and Ampex 499 reel to reel tapes. Materials span 1980-2022.

Biographical / historical:

Founded in 1980, Out of the Blue is Duke University's oldest female a cappella group. In addition to on campus concerts and events, Out of the Blue has recorded albums and performed for audiences nationally and internationally. In 1993, the group performed at Carnegie Hall as one of six groups selected from a nationwide competition. Out of the Blue has received awards for their albums and arrangements.

Acquisition information:
The Out of the Blue records were received by the University Archives as transfers in 2007, 2019, and 2022.
