Architectural Records, 1954, circa 1960-1969 and undated

Scope and content:

The architectural records in this collection document the various drawings of the proposed Thai Village site and plans for the various buildings that were to be constructed. Records include those from Louis Pursel, of Louis Pursel and Associates, whose role in the project included the siting of the Thai buildings, the possible design of additional buildings, grading, drainage, and plans for utilities, the architectural firm of Wong and Wong and the engineering firm of Towill Corporation. The Foundation also commissioned Professor Plue Chankao, Professor of Architecture for the Fine Arts University, Bangkok, to draw up the plans for the Royal Pantheon and the Wat Phra Kaeo. The records are primarily diazo, but also include ink, pencil, and pastels. Of particular interest are Louis Pursel's original sketches of the Thai House in color pencil and pencil on diazo.

Digital use copies exist for some of the architectural records and have been identified below. Digital use copies can only be accessed onsite in the Rubenstein Library Reading Room. To request access please contact Research Services prior to visiting the library.
