Scope and content:

Consists primarily of materials connected to the administration and outcomes of Nicaraguan elections, including polls, official results and election documents, publications of the Consejo Supremo Electoral, observer mission records, reports, news clippings, and correspondence. Also includes procedural documents and publications related to the drafting and implementation of the Nicaraguan Constitution of January 1, 1987.

Includes cassette recordings of over 100 interviews with Nicaraguan politicians and elections officials, some with partial transcripts, as well as several recordings of political speeches. Interviews collected by George Vickers, often conducted together with colleagues and with the aid of an interpreter.

This subseries also contains a set of color photographic slides depicting murals, posters, billboards and graffiti; popular demonstrations; events around the signing of Nicaragua's constitution; scenes at a rural hospital; scenes of urban and rural life; colleagues of George Vickers; touristic scenes; and a range of informants and interview subjects.
