The Writings series comprises a variety of materials connected with the Warners' efforts to document American folk traditions. Includes journal articles and essays, grant applications; materials related to the production of Anne Warner's book, Traditional American Folk Songs, 1984; folk song lyrics, published and unpublished; and Anne Warner's hand-written field research journals and notebooks.

Papers related to the audiovisual materials in this collection can be found in this series, including transcribed sound recordings of folk songs and some interviews collected in the Library of Congress master tapes, which are not included in Anne Warner's book.

Organized according to the subject matter of each particular writing.
