Scope and content:

The series features a set of the field recordings the Warners donated to the Library of Congress, on 1/4" open reel tapes (masters), cassette tapes (user copies), and digital access copies made from the cassettes. Title, performer, date, location, and duration information is provided for each of the 802 songs and stories, which have been arranged by region, date, then tape order the Library of Congress created when transferring the original acetate discs and tapes. Included in this subseries is a copy of the volume of the Library of Congress's inventory of the recordings.

Other audio resources include home recordings and presentations outside the purview of the Warners' field collecting efforts, Frank Warner records produced by Elektra Records, and compact discs of field recording compilations.

Moving images include Frank Proffitt's appearance at the Newport Folk Festival, an episode of Pete Seeger's Rainbow Quest featuring Frank Warner, and a compilation reel of Frank Warner's home movies from the 1930s, including footage of Durham and Greensboro, North Carolina, and New York City.

Some of the material is documented in written form in the Writings Series, including transcribed sound recordings of folk songs and some interviews.
