Files contain correspondence, articles, drafts, reports, conference files, newsletters, manuals, clippings, FOIA cleared documents, course materials, and other assorted materials related to security topics in Latin America. In particular, topics focus on police reform including the demilitarization of military police forces and involvement of citizens into public security or policing; human rights abuses; the arms trade; security; and other activities. But a significant portion focuses on the role and influence of the United States on different militaries and security efforts in Latin America. Topics involving the US and Latin America include the School of the Americas, a military training facility for Latin American soldiers and police; military training; aid and expenditures; troop placement; and human rights training.
