Collection comprises a photograph album with 38 albumen photographs (6 x 4.25 inches) pasted on sheets of thick cardboard. The album's binding features decorated wood with a Jerusalem cross. The back of the binding is marked "Jerusalem" in English and Hebrew. Photographs are numbered and feature subtitles in English and French. Photographic subjects in Jerusalem include: exterior and interior of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and several stations of the cross, the Wailing Wall, Via Dolorosa, various gates of Jerusalem, Mosque of Omar, Tomb of the Kings, Garden of Gethsemane, and Mount of Olives. Among the images of Palestine are: Jaffa, Tomb of Rachel, Bethlehem, Hebron, Tomb of Lazarus, Jericho, Dead Sea, the River Jordan, and the Tower of David and Hippicus. There is also a photograph of two women at a mill. All but two of the photographs are signed with the American Colony mark.

Collection comprises 63 exhibit-quality black-and-white photographic portraits of Durham, North Carolina citizens of all races, ages, genders, and sexual orientations, taken from 1989 to 1992 for a Center for Documentary Studies project. Subjects include activists, writers, older people, working class men, friends, couples, and families. Many of the individuals were alumni of Duke University. Also includes several prints and a brochure from an exhibit entitled "Home Ground," featuring Vaughan's family and landscapes from two family farms, 1977-1987. Formats include gelatin silver, Polaroids (some in color), and four palladium/plantinotype prints, along with a hand-pigmented, textured print. The photographs range in size from about 8 3/8 x 10 3/4 inches to 11x14 inches and are all matted, captioned, and signed. Acquired as part of the Archive of Documentary Arts at Duke University.

She confesses "...I find the people spiritually dead" and tells the story of a father who dragged his son away from her and the altar. The letter is signed, "Peggie." She inserted into the letter a newspaper clipping reporting the revival she led in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Collection houses records regarding the history of the Urodynamics Society, currently known as the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine, and Urogenital Reconstruction (SUFU), whose first president and founder (1978-1979) was Dr. Saul Boyarsky, physician and faculty member at Duke University, and donor of the collection. File contents include correspondence relating to the Society's activities and development, chiefly during the 1980s, and the transfer of the collection to the Duke Medical Center Library; several booklets with the Society's membership lists, constitution and by-laws, from 1978 to 1982 and 1993; printed articles and abstracts concerning the history of urodynamics; a bibliography of literature in the field (1990-1991); Dr. Boyarsky's notes and a long published article on the history of the Society (1999); Dr. Luis Perez's published article on the history of urodynamics (1992), with comments and a draft; and other small items. Acquired as part of the History of Medicine Collections at Duke University.

Member of Board of Trustees at Duke University; senior vice-president of Shell Companies Foundation, Inc. Collection spans the years 1841-1977, with the bulk dating from 1930-1977, and contains personal correspondence among members of the Upchurch family, including correspondence between Upchurch and his brother during World War II, when they were both serving in the U.S. Navy; professional correspondence concerning Duke University administrative affairs; genealogical materials for the Upchurch, Daniel, and Meadows families of North Carolina; commemorative material on Upchurch's mother, Minnie Gertrude (Daniel) Upchurch; and photographs, clippings, programs, and school materials. Much of the personal materials reveals the life of a middle-class North Carolina family during the first half of the 20th century. One personal letter is from John Steinbeck's sister, Beth Ainsworthy, and contains comments on Steinbeck and relationships in the Steinbeck family. Another group of materials relates to the world premiere of Samuel Barber's opera, ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA, at the Lincoln Center in N.Y. on Sept. 16, 1966. Included are invitations, commemorative programs and booklets, and the opera libretto. Other materials include Shell Development Company records on personnel issues such as labor relations and salary administration; and Shell Companies Foundation records (1963-1974), chiefly relating to the foundation's endowments, scholarships, and grants, as well as the company's donation budgets from 1969-1974.

Dick Groat (Class of '52) received numerous accolades for his performances in baseball and basketball while at Duke. Groat then served two years in the United States Army. He went on to play 14 seasons in Major League Baseball, winning World Series Championships with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1960 and St. Louis Cardinals in 1964. He was also named the National League's Most Valuable Player in 1960. The collection includes a scrapbook containing clippings that document Groat's athletic career at Duke and several issues of the Belvoir Castle that contain articles documenting his baseball and basketball career while playing in various armed services leagues with inclusive dates 1948-1955.
