The collection documents the activities of the Project, administrative and otherwise. Included are mailing lists (including an electronic file), newsletters, photographs, stationery, program and publicity ideas, old program lists, clippings, materials about other women's history groups, the Triangle Community Foundation proposal, non-profit status information, training materials, awards, past school projects, school visit evaluations, reports and surveys, newsletters, grant information, outreach materials, flyers and press releases, project ideas, and study group materials

The collection contains writings of Anne Firor Scott and materials relating to her academic work in Southern and women's history. The materials primarily refer to her scholarly activities, and include her dissertation, occasional papers, articles, speeches and lectures, book reviews, contracts, conference proceedings and schedules, course materials, newspaper clippings, and other activities related to academia. There is also a file of correspondence written by Anna Lord Strauss (then president of the League of Women Voters) in 1949 and mailed to all members the league. Notes by Scott in this file explain her connection to Strauss, and the circumstances of the correspondence. In addition, there are newspaper articles related to the first and second editions of Scott's book, The Southern Lady. Acquired as part of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture.

Collection documents the artwork and printed promotional materials Robert K. Jeffery commissioned, used, or referenced in diamond advertising. Most items are the output of the advertising agency N. W. Ayer and Son, Inc., often featuring De Beers diamonds and outdoor advertising promotions. Other items are more general to the diamond marketing industry, including marketing statistics, and gemology periodicals. Acquired as part of the John W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising & Marketing History.

Primarily letters to Mann from his family and the family of Nathaniel Hawthorne. Correspondents include Sophia Hawthorne, Rose Hawthorne, Una Hawthorne, brother George Mann, mother Mary Tyler Peabody Mann, and Elizabeth Peabody. Topics include family activities and travels, especially comments on Mann's descriptions of San Francisco and the Sandwich Islands [now the Hawaiian Islands]; Nathaniel Hawthorne's death and burial; Abraham Lincoln's death and burial; and opinions about Civil War events, battles, and personalities. Includes a letter from Elizabeth Peabody (undated) describing her two visits to President Lincoln and mentioning General Hitchcock's opinions about Lincoln and the Civil War. In addition, there is a carte-de-visite of Nathaniel Hawthorne. Acquired as part of the Alfred and Elizabeth Brand Collection of Rare Books and Manuscripts.

This collection documents the professional and creative life of writer and teacher Robert Bausch. Materials include handwritten, typed, and electronic (computerized) drafts of published and unpublished novels and essays, including The Gypsy Man, On the Way Home, Almighty Me, For God's Sake, and A Hole in the Earth; galleys and corrected proofs of his published novels; incoming andoutgoing correspondence--including copies of electronic mail--with writers, editors, readers,students, and family; a few typescripts of works by others; book and movie contracts and royalty statements; andaudiocassette tapes of Bausch's class discussions and readings by authorsGeorge Garrett, Bausch, and Bausch's twin brother Richard Bausch.

The collection consists primarily of first editions, limited editions, translations, and other editions (many of them autographed or inscribed, 1965-1998) of the works of Anne Tyler, delineating her prolific career. Also includes books about or containing contributions by Tyler (1958-1993); issues of periodicals containing her contributions or reviews of her work (1965-1996); and three pieces of her original correspondence (1979-1989).

Primarily office files, including commission and committee meeting minutes, reports, correspondence, financial records, printed material, and other items. The files document the council's attempts to marshal churches in N.C. to act on a variety of social concerns, including race relations, poverty, immigration, the death penalty, war and peace, and ecumenism. Special topics include the United Church Women, NCCC Social Ministries, and outreach to migrant and aging populations. The collection includes a scrapbook for the United Church Women, 460 black-and-white and 66 color photographs, 43 color slides, and 60 black-and-white and 142 color negatives.
