Contains audiovisual materials organized by client and product alphabetically. Item descriptions reflect information included on or with the materials and is recorded here as it appeared on the originals. A running number has been added to the individual items to aid in the identification of materials for the creation of use copies.

The Audiovisual Materials series is comprised of 35 film reels, 22 audio reels, one audiocassette, and four Umatic videocassettes. The media contain advertisements produced by Peggy Weiss and Ogilvy and Mather, for companies including, among others, Unilever, Kimberly-Clark, and General Foods. Individual ads typically run 30 to 60 seconds, and a number of the film and audio reels are compilations of advertisements. Description for these compilation reels can be found in an inventory provided by the donor, detailing the commercials on the film and audio reels identified with letters, and is available online here.

The Audiovisual Materials series includes tapes in a variety of formats documenting speaking engagements, luncheons, and interviews with WRC staff; footage of trips to refugee camps and field visits with refugees around the world; and recordings of testimony and other projects highlighting the experiences of refugee women and children. Formats include: VHS, Hi8 Video, MiniDV, VHS C, Betacam, BetacamSP, DVCam, DVD, CD and audio cassette tape. This series also includes a small section of slides.

Contains four reels of microfilm, two audio reels, and two cassette tapes. The microfilms were originally part of Baker's research materials, and contain many Methodist tracts, essays, verses, letters, and other short works dating from 1738-1789, according to library notes found with the reels.

The bulk of this series consists of MacKinnon's diaries, which range in format from loose typescript pages to small bound manuscript volumes. This series also includes MacKinnon's drafts, research, and notes regarding his autobiography, which he never published.

Materials in this series include six typed chapters written by Henry Rauch regarding his life and memories, and were apparently intended for his children, Dudley and Elizabeth (Betsey). These chapters are titled: "My Early Years," "Amoskeag Manufacturing Company 1922-1936," "Supplementary - Amoskeag 1922-1936 - Our Life in Manchester - Stories re F.C. Dumaine," "The Years Between Amoskeag (1936) and B.I. [Burlington Inudstries] (August 1951)," "Commentary - H.E.R. and B.I.," and untitled Bentley College trusteeship and involvement notes.

The materials in this series were removed from scrapbooks put together by Henry Rauch on his tenure as a member of the Board of Trustees of Duke University, and consist of correspondence, clippings, reports, pamphlets, photographs, cards, and typed notes. The materials were largely in chronological order and had apparently been arranged into three scrapbooks or groupings: Duke 1963-1970, Duke 1971-May 360, 1978, and June 1978-1992. Some of these materials were annotated by Henry Rauch by hand or typed (generally dated). Also included are a few materials related to Bentley College.

These slides (labeled with "SLA" prefix) were submitted to the Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA) specifically as nominees for the national award program, most recently known as the OBIE awards. Member companies and advertisers submitted what they felt to be their best work for this national competition. The first National Contest and Exhibit of Outdoor Advertising Art was presented by the Outdoor Advertising Department of the Ad Council of the Chicago Association of Commerce in 1930. Later, sponsorship appears to have been provided by the Art Directors Club of Chicago, and perhaps other industry organizations. The Institute of Outdoor Advertising (IOA) was involved starting in 1965 until its merger with the OAAA, which continues "the OBIE" awards competition today. The OBIE award is patterned from the ancient Egyptian "obelisk," considered by many to be the earliest form of outdoor advertising. Award categories varied by year but early groupings often included Posters, Painted Bulletins, Campaigns, and Public Service (Kerwin H. Fulton medal award). Later, the number of categories grew to include emerging formats such as transit advertising and product type categories.

This series contains an assortment of materials related to the broad and varied personal activities of Doris Duke including growing and showing orchids, farming, and philanthropy.

Folders of historical and biographical information on the Parapsychology Laboratory and the Rhines. Includes some unprocessed material added to the collection, chiefly clippings and three journal articles on parapsychology and the Rhines (by McVaughn and Mauskopf, Matlock, and Zingrone and Alvarado).

Personal and professional correspondence of J. B. Rhine along with correspondence of Parapsychology Laboratory staff members. The 1893 letter is a holograph letter from Richard Hodgson, Secretary of the American Society for Psychical Research, to William James. The 1919-1927 correspondence covers the period before Rhine came to Duke. From 1927 the correspondence reflects primarily Rhine's activities, but contains some letters written to and by other laboratory staff members. The last files include memorial letters written after the death of J. B. Rhine (1980). Includes subject files, research records, clippings, and photographs. Arranged chronologically, 1893-1936. Arranged chronologically by year, then alphabetically by correspondent in reverse chronological order, 1937-1984.

Contains correspondence with new and returning students (also includes some photographs), house officer duties and lists, constitutions and some revisions, general house rules, minutes of monthly House Council meetings, notebooks kept by the house president, clippings, and a brief biography of John Spencer Bassett.

Series includes 1356 progress pictures, weekly bound memoranda of operations, specifications, blue prints, reports, and other materials documenting almost every aspect of the construction of the Beauharnois Hydro-Electric Power Station on the Saint Lawrence River, south of Montreal, Quebec, starting in 1930 and ending in 1932. William States Lee served as the lead consulting engineer on the project, which was undertaken by the Beauharnois Construction Company.
