Eileen Weiss is a grassroots activist involved in documenting and raising awareness of human rights conflicts primarily in Bosnia, Kosovo in the 1990s and the Darfur region in Sudan in the 2000s-2010s as well as for interfaith awareness among the Jewish, Christian, and Muslim communities in New York City after September 11, 2001. Collection includes organizational and event files, correspondence, handouts, newsletters, clippings, audiovisual materials, and other assorted materials. The Eileen Weiss papers focus on human rights conflicts in Bosnia, Kosovo, and Darfur with news, rallies, demonstrations, education, and events through Weiss's involvement in grassroots organizations such as Jews Against Genocide (JAG), Jewish Ad-Hoc Committee on Bosnia (JACOB), and the New York Coalition for Sudan. The collection also documents her efforts in cultural pluralism through interfaith work with the Same Difference Interfaith Alliance project, co-founded by Weiss, with community programming, arts, and education. Sidney Weintraub (1914-1983) was a professor of economics at the University of Pennsylvania. This collection primarily documents his professional life through his correspondence, writings, and research. It forms parts of the Economists' Papers Archive.

Anthony Weir is a marketing communications executive with the Whitford Corporation and runs Weir Marketing Communications. He started his career as a copywriter for Batten, Barton, Durstine, and Osborn (BBDO), then worked as a specialist in starting up and managing offices in Asia and Latin America for the Ogilvy & Mather and Leo Burnett advertising agencies. The Anthony Weir Papers span the years 1954 through 2006 and include advertising copy, brochures, clippings, memoranda, correspondence, photographs, and slides representing Weir's advertising career, especially his work for BBDO and Ogilvy & Mather (O&M). Clients mentioned in the collection include the Lever Brothers, Hertz, Sears, Owens-Corning, American Express, and Schweppes. The collection also contains correspondence and clippings about Anthony's father, Walter Weir, also a marketing executive; and documents from the files of Jane Maas, Weir's colleague at Ogilvy.

Anna Lora Weiss, born circa 1858, lived in Boston's Dorchester section and owned several rental properties throughout the city. She was also a member of several voluntary and charitable associations, including the Women's Christian Temperance Union, and the Commitee on Music for the School Committee of Boston. Her family, including her mother Mary Clapp Weiss, brothers Richard and Carl, and sister Mary, were of German descent. Collection contains two account books, dated 1896-1904 and 1905-1910 respectively, kept by Anna Lora Weiss of Boston, Mass. The account books meticulously document Weiss's income, including significant income she received from her rental properties and other investments, as well as her expenditures on travel, household goods, gifts, and charitable contributions. In addition, the account books indicate that Weiss loaned money at interest to her brother Carl for his often unsuccessful business endeavors. In addition to her finances, the account books also document Weiss's daily activities and social and political interests. Together, the account books reveal that Weiss was an active, independent, and astute businesswoman. Acquired as part of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture.

Wells was an educator, museum curator and author. The collection consists of an unpublished Wells' manuscript.

Walter Thompson Company (JWT) New Business Records span the years 1924-2006, with the bulk of materials spanning 1980-1989. The collection combines the records of the New Business Departments of JWT's major U.S. offices: New York, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, and San Francisco, and includes presentations, memoranda, case histories, market research, and profiles of companies, industries, market segments, products and product categories. Topics addressed include the youth market, financial services marketing, food and grocery marketing, feminine hygiene and other personal products, and product branding. The collection includes photographs, audiocassettes, videocassettes, DVDs. Elaine Katz is a collector of books and ephemera. This collection was created by Katz and contains more than 800 cards documenting numerous women's businesses and professions during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries including millinery, dressmaking, and fancy work, as well as many other types of businesses and work. The J. Walter Thompson Company (JWT), founded in 1864, is one of the oldest and largest enduring advertising agencies in the United States. Edward G. Wilson was an executive with JWT from 1930 until his retirement in 1971, and held the positions of General Counsel, Executive Vice-President and Secretary of the Company. The Edward G. Wilson Papers span the period 1906-1991 and includes clippings, correspondence, inter-office memoranda, reports, writings, speeches and personal diaries that highlight Wilson's 40 year career (1930-1971) as an executive with the J. Walter Thompson Company (JWT). The bulk of materials fall between 1946 and 1971, and covers the period from Wilson's return to JWT following military service in World War II until his retirement. As General Counsel and head of JWT's Legal Department, Wilson oversaw contractual relations pertaining primarily to the sponsorship of radio and television programs for a number of clients--including DeBeers Consolidated Mines, Ltd., the Eastman Kodak Company, the Ford Motor Company, the Scott Paper Company and Unilever. The collection reveals JWT's relationships with radio and television personalities--such as Fred Allen and Edgar Bergen--and professional organizations including the Radio Writers Guild and the Television Writers of America. In addition, materials in the collection touch on the anti-communist movement and blacklisting within the U.S. entertainment industry of the 1950s--involving personalities such as Jean Muir and John Henry Faulk, among others. The collection also includes records from a number of JWT international offices, with heavier representation from offices in London; Bombay (Mumbai), India; and Johannesburg, South Africa, along with records kept by some of Wilson's predecessors, such as Donald Foote and Sam Meek, and the South African advertising executive and politician James Hamilton Russell.

Paula Kamen was born in Chicago and grew up in Flossmoor, Illinois. She received a bachelor's degree in journalism in 1989 from the University of Illinois. Kamen is a Chicago-based (current as of 2007) journalist, playwright, and the author of a number of books, including one of the first books to describe the third wave of feminism. Articles and book reviews by Kamen have been published in The New York Times, Washington Post, Ms., Chicago Tribune, among others, and more than a dozen anthologies. Kamen is also a frequent public speaker and has appeared at over 70 universities. A focus of the collection, which spans the years 1971-2006, is on Generation X women, feminism, and sexuality. Contains a Writings Series which includes research files, drafts, and publicity-related files for all of Kamen's major works as of 2006, as well as drafts of and materials related to articles and other shorter pieces written by Kamen. Works represented are the nonfiction books All In My Head: An Epic Quest to Cure an Unrelenting, Totally Unreasonable, and Only Slightly Enlightening Headache, Feminist Fatale: Voices from the Twentysomething Generation Explore the Future of the Women's Movement, Her Way: Young Women Remake the Sexual Revolution, and the plays Jane: Abortion and the Underground and Seven Dates with Seven Writers. Other series in the collection are Conferences and Engagements, with files relating to Kamen's frequent speaking engagements, particularly at universities; Subject Files, an extensive array of clippings and articles maintained by Kamen on a wide range of feminist subjects primarily in the 1990s; Audiovisual Materials, and Printed Materials.

Zen Buddhist teacher and author of "The Three Pillars of Zen." Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Kapleau was a chief court reporter for the Nuremberg Trials and also covered the Tokyo War Crimes Trials. While in Japan for the trials, he met and was influenced by D.T. Suzuki and other Zen practitioners, which led him to become a serious student of Zen in Japan. Eventually, he returned to the United States and founded the Rochester Zen Center (New York) in 1966. Most of the papers relate to Kapleau's role as a Zen teacher, to his writings, and to personal concerns such as his health and Parkinson's disease. Some of Kapleau's notes are written in shorthand, and there are some materials in Japanese. The recorded teishos (dharma talks) were mainly recorded during sesshin (retreats) and span 30 years. According to the tape labels, there are various speakers including Kapleau, Toni Packer, and Bodhin Kjolhede (all of whom led the Rochester Zen Center at different times).

James Karales was an American photojournalist on staff at Look magazine. Collection houses the archive of photojournalist James Karales, active from the 1950s to the 1980s. The majority of the images in the collection originated from his work for Look magazine during the 1960s. Major projects document Rendville, Ohio, a coal mining town and one of the first racially integrated towns in Appalachia; the Vietnam War; New York's Lower East Side; Oregon logging; and the 1960s Civil Rights movement, including photographs of Martin Luther King, Jr. There may be racially mixed persons appearing in the Rendville series. Smaller projects document California, New Mexico, the Andrea Doria disaster, and other subjects. Formats in the collection include contact sheets, which serve as a thumbnail guide to almost all of the prints and negatives in the collection; black-and-white proof prints and finished prints in a range of sizes; original negatives (closed to research use); and over 1100 color slides. There are also print and biographical materials, some correspondence, and audiovisual materials. Acquired as part of the Archive of Documentary Arts at Duke University.

Collection consists of forty 17x24 inch color inkjet prints from a body of work titled "Color Falls Down" by artist Priya Kambli, who emigrated from India to the U.S. at the age of eighteen. Sometimes resembling diptychs, the images juxtapose and recontextualize family photographs, personal objects such as clothing, spoons, and earrings, and contemporary self-portraits, exploring themes of migration, cross-cultural understanding, women and family, identity, and memory. This work received the 2018 ADA Collection Award for Women Documentarians. Acquired as part of the Archive of Documentary Arts at Duke University.

Kivie Kaplan was born on April 1, 1904 in Boston, Massachusetts, the youngest of three sons of Benjamin and Celia (Solomont) Kaplan. He joined the NAACP in 1932 and was elected to the National Board in 1954. He was elected president in 1966 and served until his death in 1975. This collection contains correspondence and associated materials of Kivie Kaplan, president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) from 1966 to 1975. The bulk of the materials are sixteen of Kaplan's letters sent to Harold Gilden, a noted Chicago labor attorney. The letters span the years 1968 to 1971 and provide information about the activities of Kivie Kaplan, while at the NAACP headquarters and speaking to gatherings around the country. Among the people referenced in the letters are Martin Luther King, Jr., the Rev. Jesse Jackson, and prominent civil rights activists in Mississippi and Chicago. The letters also discuss Kaplan's philanthropic activities. The collection also includes eight separately printed items related to the NAACP and the civil rights movement and two NAACP 'Life Member' plaques.

Materials from the aftermath of the earthquake that struck the Japanese region of Kantō on September 1, 1923. Includes a map of Tokyo and the disaster area; another map of the fire in Tokyo, with text in English and Japanese; a copy of the special issue International Graphic Magazine from September/October 1923; a photo-illustrated pamphlet; 18 postcards with color-tinted photographs; and a scrapbook of photographs and newsprint about the event. An additional 120 postcards, largely black-and-white photographs (some with captions), were added in 2016.
