Rick Lang was a photographer and faculty member at the Creadlé School of Art, Winter Park, Florida. Collection comprises 229 black-and-white photographs documenting the American South, particularly Florida and Louisiana, with an emphasis on roadside advertising and signs, small businesses, and weathered buildings. There are also a few images from New Mexico and Arizona. Print sizes range from 11x14 to 20x24 inches. Accompanying the prints are 104 digital image files and one pdf, over 3000 negatives, and 258 contact sheets. In addition there are print materials chiefly associated with Lang's solo and group exhibits, including three photobooks, and condolences sent upon his passing in 2013. Acquired as part of the Archive of Documentary Arts at Duke University.

Ben Brody (born 1979) is a photojournalist, photo editor, and educator based in Massachusetts. Between 2003-2008, Brody served in the United States military stationed in Iraq, and between 2010-2015, was a civilian photographer in Afghanistan, documenting the "Global War on Terror." Afterwards, he published his photography in Attention Servicemember (2019), Can We Get a War Thread Going? (2016), Endgame Afghanistan (2017), and 300M (2022). The collection includes 130 photographic prints of varying sizes and mostly in color, in Iraq, Afghanistan, and in the United States, with accompanying location, date, signature, and caption or longer narrative description by Brody. Images depict military members from the United States, Afghanistan, and Iraq, and occasionally civilians; military activity and leisure; military outposts and local towns; and time in the United States, particularly in Massachusetts. Accompanying the prints are Brody's published works, book dummies, and design iterations; collected military manuals, visual guides, country handbooks, and Brody's personal military documents; and other assorted materials. Melanie Morrison is an author, speaker, pastor, social justice educator, and lesbian feminist anti-racist activist. The Melanie Morrison papers reflect her ministerial career as well as the life and works of her mother Eleanor Shelton Morrison and the non-profit they co-created, the Leaven Center, which offers social justice workshops and retreats. The collection contains correspondence, writings, research/reference materials, photographs, and other documents related to the careers of the two women and the activities and organization of the Leaven Center. Acquired as part of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture.

Consumer Reports is a product testing and consumer advocacy nonprofit organization based in Yonkers, N.Y., founded in 1936 as Consumers Union. The International Organization of Consumers' Unions (IOCU) is a consumer protection and rights advocacy organization founded in the Hague in 1960; it renamed as Consumers International in 1995. Collection includes audiovisual materials; clippings; correspondence; financial reports; meeting minutes; membership applications; policy statements; press releases; proceedings and planning documents for conferences, seminars, and workshops; texts of speeches and articles; and other printed materials that document Consumers Union's membership and participation in the organization. The Center for Multicultural Affairs began as the Office of Black Affairs in 1969 to address the needs of the African American student population at Duke University. As the Center for Multicultural Affairs, the department's mission is to foster a welcoming environment, support all students in becoming engaged members of the Duke community, and to promote community engagement. The collection contains a variety of administrative materials, including reports, correspondence, minutes and programs, documenting the directives and activities of the Office of Black Affairs, the Office of Minority Affairs, the Office of Intercultural Affairs, and the Center for Multicultural Affairs. Also included are materials pertaining to the Summer Transitional Program, which was established in 1969 and managed by the Office of Minority Affairs.

The Washington Office on Latin America (WOLA) is an international human rights advocacy organization headquartered in Washington D.C. It partners with local organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean to raise awareness of human rights abuses in the region and to influence the foreign policy agenda of the United States government. The WOLA records span 1968-2023, with most materials dating from 1980-2009. Contains research and project files on nearly every country in Latin America, administration records, clippings, correspondence, printed material, audiovisual materials, and other assorted materials related to the work of WOLA. Major subjects include political and government issues such as coup d'etats, dictatorships, elections, human rights abuses, and policy; economic topics such as aid, development, labor and poverty; documentation and advocacy related to human rights cases such as violence, forced disappearances, and truth and reconciliation; security issues and police reform, including demilitarizing police, the School of Americas, and violence against women; drug policies; Hurricane Mitch; advocacy training for other NGOs and lobbying work; and various events and conferences in which these topics are discussed. Ladyslipper Music is a North Carolina non-profit organization which has been involved in many facets of women's music since 1976. Their mission is to heighten public awareness of the achievements of women artists and musicians, and to expand the scope and availability of musical and literary recordings by women. This collection documents the history, activities, and output of this organization.

Duke Photography, formerly called Duke University Photography, was the official photographic service of Duke University. The Duke Photography Records include many of the original photographs taken by the service from the 1960s through the 2010s.

Allan Troxler (1947-2025) was an artist, author, and dance instructor from Durham, N.C. Troxler's collection consists of his artwork, family history, and writings, as well as the archives of his lifelong partner, Carl Wittman. Carl Wittman's archives include his diaries, letters, and writings on civil rights and gay liberation. The collection also contains materials documenting the Durham (N.C.) arts scene, English country dance, AIDS in the gay community, and Troxler's collection of materials from Catherine Nicholson.

Edwin L. and Terry A. Murray, brothers residing in Durham, North Carolina, have been collectors of comic books and other pulp culture for forty years. Collection includes role-playing game boxed sets, miniatures, card sets, role-play game magazines and literature, campaign guides, modules, and rule books.

Duke University Retirees Outreach was founded in 1997 to provide volunteer opportunities to Duke retirees and their partners and operated until 2021. DURO members developed volunteer programs like the Backpack Program and the Lakewood Garden project at Lakewood Elementary School. The collection, spanning 1997 to 2021, consists of administrative and financial records, correspondence, and materials related to projects and events.

Founded in 1864, the J. Walter Thompson Company (JWT) is one of the oldest and largest enduring advertising agencies in the United States. It is headquartered in New York. Collection includes correspondence, track listings, transcriptions, and other printed materials, audio and video cassettes (Betacam SP, VHS and Umatic), DAT, optical media (CDs, DVDs. etc.), 16mm film reels, phonograph records, and computer media. JWT management events documented in the collection include Cannes and Effies Awards submissions, Epcot, Executive Committee, Worldwide Creative Council, speeches and presentations by top managers as well as interviews undertaken as part of an oral history project at JWT. Offices represented include North America, Europe, Great Britain, India, Asia and Latin America. Jim Dow (1942- ) is an American photographer and educator based in Massachusetts. The core of the collection consists of over 1900 single-image photographs, 232 multi-image panoramic prints, and approximately 2300 film negatives, representing black-and-white and color images taken by Dow from 1966 to 2023. It also includes raw and adjusted digital image files that Dow created from his photographic negatives. Subjects include: U.S. vernacular culture and landscapes, including roadside architecture, courthouses and jails, and small business interiors; eateries, including diners, bars, drive-in restaurants, and food trucks; stadiums and athletic fields around the world; and interiors and exteriors of private clubs, libraries, and churches and museums in cities around the world. Photographs often include cultural expressions such as advertising, murals, bar decor, and graffiti. Dow's U.S. work focuses mainly on New England, the South, and the West, with a single-state project on North Dakota. Other images were taken by Dow in Argentina, Canada, England, Mexico, Portugal, Scotland, and Uruguay, with a few images from Wales. Also included is a series of commissioned work. Dow's professional papers comprise teaching slides, course readers, syllabi, and digital files, as well as art gallery ephemera. Collection contains audio of sermons delivered at religious and ceremonial services in the Duke University Chapel by various ministers, professors, and guests of the University. Notable speakers include Howard Wilkinson, James Cleland, Waldo Beach, Thor Hall, Charlene Kammerer, Jon Laidlaw, Will Willimon, Robert Young and others. The collection consists of 7" reel-to-reel audio tapes, audiocassette tapes, VHS tapes, and digital audio tapes of sermons, programs and Lenten meditations delivered in Duke Chapel from 1954 to ongoing.

Kenneth Arrow (1921-2017) was a Nobel Prize winner and the Joan Kenney Professor of Economics and Professor of Operations Research, Emeritus at Stanford University. This collection consists of his correspondence, research, writings, and other materials documenting his political and personal interests, as well as his collaborations and professional affiliations across the fields of economics, mathematics, public policy, and international relations. It forms part of the Economists' Papers Archive.

The SPLC Intelligence Project Collection includes printed materials, serials, organizational literature, pamphlets, clippings, catalogs, fliers, and correspondence from a variety of groups monitored by the SPLC and its contacts between the 1980s and 2010. Included within the collection are many groups falling within the SPLC Klanwatch and Militia Watch projects. Organizations represented in this collection typically promoted anti-semitic, white supremacist, racist, separatist, or anti-Communist views and policies. Other organizations promoted Second Amendment rights, right-wing Christian and American nationalism, Y2K and survivalist preparations, and the rise of the Confederacy. SPLC's interests expanded across the political spectrum to include both right-wing and left-wing extremist literature.
