Richard Stephen Creed was vice-chancellor of New College, Oxford, England. Collection documents the controversy that followed publication of Dr. Seymour J. G. Spencer's article, "Homosexuality among Oxford Undergraduates," in the Journal of Mental Science in April 1959, which received press coverage in England and the United States. The article discussed the psychiatric treatment of such students. Contains Creed's corrected copy of the reprinted article and an excerpt from the July meeting minutes for the Warneford Management committee, where faculty and staff mentioned in the article's acknowledgments expressed their outrage at the unwanted and sensational publicity. Includes Creed's letter to the author following that meeting, which questioned Spencer's research results and approach to writing, as well as Spencer's letters written in response to defend his work.

Consumer Reports is a product testing and consumer advocacy nonprofit organization based in Yonkers, N.Y., founded in 1936. Collection includes newsletters, pamphlets and other printed materials produced by a range of North American consumer advocacy, education and protection organizations, both private, nongovernmental organizations and governmental agencies. Many of the newsletters collected include the first issue produced by the respective organization. Topics cover general issues of consumer economics, health and safety, as well as consumer issues relating to recovery from the Depression and World War II. Acquired as part of the John W. Ronald Anthony Cross was an American science fiction and fantasy author. Collection includes a wide array of Cross' creative work, including short stories and novelettes, poems, essays, song lyrics, novels, and copies of his published work. In addition there is research he conducted for his published books, and often material related to the publishing process, including tracking sheets, correspondence, contracts, reviews, and royalty statements. Material dated past Cross' death has to do with republishing agreements.

Barrister, politician, literary critic, and author. The John Wilson Croker Papers are organized into the following series: Indexed Correspondence, Non-Indexed Correspondence, and Other Papers. The collection consists primarily of letters from English and Irish politicians and personages to Croker, and provide a rich source of material on Great Britain's politics and government in the 19th century.

The Cronly family included Michael Cronly, Sr., auctioneer and real estate broker of Wilmington, N.C. and his wife, Margaret McLaurin Cronly and their nine children. Collection comprises correspondence, financial and legal papers, writings, bound volumes, clippings and other print materials, and photographs of teh Cronly family of Wilmington, N.C. Topics include auctioneering and real estate in Wilmington, N.C.; Wilmington social life and economic conditions; Civil War experiences; African American life and condtions during Reconstruction; the Wilmington, Charlotte and Rutherford Railway Company; railroad bonds; earthquake of 1886; and the Democratic Party and politics in North Carolina. Includes information on the Beatty, Cronly, McLaurin and Murphy families of North Carolina, and descriptions of Charleston (S.C.), Atlantic City (N.J.), Denver (Colorado), Genova (Italy), and the Hudson Fulton Celebration in New York City (1909). Of note is a detailed account of the Wilmington, N.C. 1898 insurrection and race massacre carried out by white supremacists, written by a woman in the Cronly family, possibly Margaret Cronly; the account is accompanied by a 6-page typed transcript.

Organizations and individuals represented in the collection include Ciba-Geigy, Esther Peterson, International Organization of Consumers' Unions (IOCU, later Consumers International) and Union Carbide (relating to the Bhopal chemical accident). Nunn was an economist active in labor issues, officer in the American Civil Liberties Union and the first Director of University Relations at the University of Minnesota. The William L. Nunn papers consist of clippings and scrapbooks that document topics of interest to Nunn as well as occupational events in Nunn's life. Topics include activities of the Liberal Club at the University of Pittsburgh; coal mining and miner unrest in Pennsylvania and suppression by the Coal and Iron Police; diversity in political parties; and clippings reporting events pertaining to civil liberties, censorship and repression. Paul Davidson (born 1930, died 2024) is the J. Fred Holly Chair of Excellence Emeritus at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. This collection documents his professional life through his correspondence. It forms parts of the Economists' Papers Archive.
