Brodie in the summer of 1989 following a recommendation of the Academic Council's Task Force on University Governance. Its predecessor was the University Committee on Resources (1988-1989). PACOR was a broad-based committee, chaired by a faculty member, which advised the President on the allocation of the University's financial, human and physical resources. Material includes minutes, reports, handouts, correspondence, memoranda, spiral-bound publications, diskettes, microcassettes and standard cassettes. Materials range in date from 1988-1995.

Lynnsy Logue is a sculptor and founder of the Wonderful Women organization. She worked with Rachel Watkins to create The Homecoming Queens project in the mid-1990s. The collection includes a scrapbook and a videotape from The Homecoming Queens public arts project, as well as some research materials about women around the world and some materials on a vigil for the Montreal 14 held in Charlotte in 1989. The Homecoming Queens was a traveling exhibit of life-size mannequins and papier-mache dolls that represented women suffering from various social and political issues around the world, including female genital mutilation, rape, abuse, war, aging, and sexism. Acquired as part of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture.

Re-Imagining was an ecumenical, radical, Christian movement focused on creating ways of understanding Womanist, Feminist, Mujerista, and Asian Feminist theologies, and opening spaces for dialogue with the church, diverse religious communities, and the world. Eighty-two audio files comprise an oral history project by Sherry E. Jordon with 70 participants in the Re-Imagining conferences, including the first gathering in 1993, Re-Imagining: A Global Theological Conference By Women: For Men and Women. Additionally, 127 mp3 files and 79 audiocassettes comprising Re-Imagining conference sessions and rituals from gatherings in 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2003, as well as papers documenting the organization's work, including Jordan, Mary Kay Sauter, and Rev. Robert Wolf was a forester with the Bureau of Land Management, the U.S. Forest Service, the Bureau of the Budget, and the Office of Investigations for the Comptroller General. He is credited with drafting the National Forest Management Act of 1976. Collection includes transcripts of over 50 interviews for the Bob Wolf oral history project. The collection consists of about 150 zines self-published by women and girls, largely in the United States. Subjects include feminism, the riot grrrl movement, body image and consciousness, women's health, women athletes, sexual abuse, television and film, poetry and short stories, rock music and punk music, violence against women, sexual identity, homosexuality, and bisexuality. Anne Noggle photographs of Soviet airwomen, 1990-1992

Anne Noggle (1922-2005), aviator, photographer, author, and educator, traveled to Moscow from 1990-1992 to conduct more than seventy interviews and to photograph former Soviet airwomen who served during World War II as pilots, gunners, bombardiers, navigators, and flight crews. The 36 black-and-white portraits in this collection show the women seated and standing, most in a studio setting; they are in civilian clothing and many are wearing their wartime medals and military insignia. The gelatin silver photographs were printed by Noggle and measure 20x24 (8), 16x20 (6), and 11x14 (22) inches. Almost all appear in her book A Dance with Death: Soviet Airwomen in World War II, published in 1994, also held by the library. Acquired as part of the Archive of Documentary Arts at Duke University.

North Carolinians Against the Death Penalty (NCADP) was a coalition founded in the 1960s that, after resuming activity in the 1980s, worked through the early 2000s to abolish capital punishment by lobbying for legislative action and advocating for stays of execution for prisoners on death row. Collection consists of organizational records, partnership files from related groups, chronological files, news clippings, and other related materials. The collection documents the coalition's activism from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s, particularly the activities of NCADP leaders Geoffrey Mock and Gerda Stein, and its partnership with other organizations such as People of Faith Against the Death Penalty, Amnesty International, Carolina Justice Policy Center, the Center for Death Penalty Litigation, and the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty. Other subjects in the images include the children and families of the farmworkers; volunteer teachers and organizers, some of whom are from the organization Student Action with Farmworkers; tobacco and Christmas tree growing in North Carolina; and street scenes from the border crossing areas of Brownsville, Texas and Matamoros, Mexico. Larry Schwarm "On fire" exhibit photographs, 1990s, 2003

Collection comprises 76 color photographic prints, measuring from 11x14 to 20x24 inches, depicting the annual prairie fires that sweep across east-central Kansas. These images were taken during the 1990s; the artist has continued taking images of prairie fires up to the present (2015). For the 1990s project, published in a book entitled "On fire," Schwarm was awarded the 2002 Honigman First Book Prize in Photography by the Center for Documentary Studies in Durham, North Carolina. The photographs were displayed in an exhibit entitled "On fire: Larry Schwarm," at Duke University's Rubenstein Library. Also included in the collection is an audio cassette recording of the artist's talk Schwarm gave on November 6, 2003, at the exhibit's opening reception. Acquired as part of the Archive of Documentary Arts at Duke University.

Debbie Stoller, Marcelle Karp, and Laurie Henzel began producing Bust, a third-wave feminist women's magazine, in New York, N.Y., in 1993 as a photocopied zine. It subsequently grew into a women's lifestyle magazine, published quarterly. This collection documents the behind-the-scenes work required to put together Bust. Materials include issue production binders; layouts and copy-editing material; biographies of contributors; article submissions; column material (Girls, Fashions, The Shit, etc.); photographs; advertisement documentation; correspondence (letter and email); press coverage of BUST; promotional material; material related to the publication and promotion of the book The Bust Guide to the New Girl Order; and a variety of graphic items. William A. Kunberger, Jr. (1943- ) was a resident of Philadephia at the time of the creation of these materials. Collection comprises a set of mailed postcards, correspondence, and photocopies of sources denying the Jewish Holocaust in Europe. Materials include letters to the recipients, photocopies of articles and books, and photocopies of primary evidence from post-war trials, statements, interviews, and aerial reconnaisance photographs used to support the denial of the Holocaust, in particular, the gassing of victims in European death camps. About half of the resource photocopies are in German. Also includes 39 typed postcards mailed by Kunberger to academics and other individuals from 2006-2008. Each postcard contains a segment of text; when put together, the cards form a lengthy statement, with citations and other texts, denying the Holocaust. In My Mind (2010) documents jazz musician Jason Moran and The Big Bandwagon's original interpretation of a legendary 1959 performance by Thelonious Monk. In My Mind was written and directed by filmmaker and CDS instructor Gary Hawkins and filmed as part of his Intermediate Documentary Filmmaking Course, with students participating in the shooting. The project grew out of Moran's residency at Duke and CDS's Jazz Loft Project.

Collection contains twenty-six 16x20 inch black-and-white matted digital prints used in Smith's book, THE WEATHER AND A PLACE TO LIVE: PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE SUBURBAN WEST, published by Duke University Press (2005). Subjects include tract housing in the West, construction sites, and other suburban landscapes that convey the impact of humans on the Western environment. His work received the First Book Prize for Photography by the Honickman Foundation and the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University. Collection also includes CD of artist talk given by Steven Smith at the 2005 exhibit opening, "Steven Smith: Photographs of the Suburban West." Acquired as part of the Archive of Documentary Arts at Duke University.

Christopher Burkett is a photographer from Vernonia (Columbia County), Oregon. Collection includes twenty-eight Cibachrome photographic prints taken by photographer Christopher Burkett of Christian icons appearing in two 15th century Ethiopic manuscript books of scriptures (MS. Ethiopic 34 and 35) located in the Rubenstein Library of Duke University. The images were painted by two distinct hands, probably copying the images from an original and earlier unidentified source. Themes include a series of scenes from the life of Christ, and images include angels, St. George, and the Virgin Mary.

Collection on Cuban migrants in indefinite detention, 1995-1999

Cuban people emigrated to the United States as refugees in 1980 during the Mariel Boatlift. A small percentage of them were imprisoned in the U.S. on felony charges, which are cause for deportation under immigration law. After a 1987 prison riot where Cuban detainees protested deportation, the migrants were granted an indefinite moratorium on deportation and a fair review of their case. A decade later many were still in federal detention centers awaiting review of their case, and they often wrote to Amnesty International for help. Collection consists largely of unsolicited correspondence from Cuban migrants written to Sarah Town while she interned with Amnesty International's Refugee Office. Acquired as part of the Human Rights Archive at Duke University.
