Collection contains original caricatures, original and drafts drawings, and select magazine issues that critique political decisions, parties, cultural and social issues, world affairs, economics, womens' rights, equality, foreign policies, World War II, and more in 20th century Turkey. Artists such as Ramiz Gökçe, Memduh, Olgaç, and many more are represented in this collection. There are also representative caricature journals, e.g., Mizah, Akbaba, Karikatür, and Amcabey.

The collection consists of printed materials and ephemera documenting the 2018 presidential election and 2019 municipality elections in Turkey. Represented in the collection are the major parties, including the Justice and Development Party (AKP), Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Republican People's Party (CHP), Nationalist Movement Party (MDP), Felicity Party (Saadet), Patriotic Party (Vatan), and Iyi Party (Iyi). Materials are in Turkish.

Turkish political posters collection, circa 1914, 1943-2016 and undated

Collection comprises 176 Turkish political posters, including three duplicates. There are seven series of posters: Korean War, NATO, Historical significance, Commemoration of Ottoman historical figures, Republican-era historical figures, Leftist, and Presidency of the Turkish Republic. In the first, sixteen posters extoll the achievements of the Turkish Armed Forces command or Turkish Brigade in the Korean War between November 1950 and July 1953. In the second series, one poster represents Turkey's relationship to North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and another reflects the naval and air force maneuvers of NATO's Southern Command, Greece, and Turkey at Weld Fast in 1953. The third series includes 27 posters that celebrate events of historic national significance and depict international political figures together with Turkish leaders. The fourth series includes four posters that commemorate Ottoman historical figures, including admiral Barbaros Hayrettin, and sultans Mehmet V, Mehmed II, and Selim I. The fifth series includes 14 posters of Repulican-era historical figures, including portraits of World War II generals and political figures. The sixth series contains 63 leftist political posters with political slogans, as well as calls for meetings and demonstrations; most of them date from the second half of the 1970's. The seventh series contains 50 posters issued by the Presidency of the Turkish Republic regarding the failed coup attempt of 15 July 2016.

This collection consists of posters of individuals sought in connection with crimes that were collected by an anonymous police detective in Westchester County, New York. The posters are from the United States and Canada, with the bulk of the posters issued by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Notable individuals represented include Lester Gillis, alias Baby Face Nelson; Mary Evelyn "Billie" Frechette; Arthur "Doc" Barker; mobster Roger Touhy; and bank robber Frank Nash. Radicals from 1970s include Weather Underground member Cathlyn Platt Wilkerson, Symbionese Liberation Army member Kathleen Soliah; and Black Liberation Army members Assata Shakur (JoAnne Chesimard) and brother Mutulu Shakur.

The Pilot Mills Company was a cotton textile mill based in Raleigh, North Carolina and founded in 1892. Files in the collection include correspondence (1892-1918), legal records (1892-1922), financial records (1890-1971), plans and blueprints (1890-1971), printed material (1906), and other records relating to the mill's construction and equipping, its ownership, and its financial operations. Persons represented include co-founder William Holt Williamson.

Printed form in German language for proof of smallpox vaccination, filled out in manuscript hand with the name of the patient, a P[?] Maurer, 49 years of age, and the date of vaccination, August 12, 1872, and the date when the vaccination was declared successful and the certificate signed by the physician, a Professor Zelinder, August 20, 1872. The entry for the location may be Balaton, Hungary. In 1872 there was a very severe smallpox outbreak in England; in 1874, a compulsory vaccination law went into effect in Germany. The certificate bears a decorative border and a small shield. Acquired as part of the History of Medicine Collections at Duke University.

Edmund Snare papers, 1836-1867

Edmund Snare was a physician and resident of Huntingdon (Huntingdon Co.), Pennsylvania. Collection comprises a ledger (dated 1836-1867) and three documents, including a letter (1864 January 19) appointing Edmund Snare as an examining surgeon of the Pension Office; a printed document (dated 1864-1866) with a handwritten list of pensioners he examined; and a letter (July 1866) from Snare to pensioner John Horst requesting more details regarding his injury, with Horst's responses. The last portion of the ledger (approximately 53 pages) contains Snare's records regarding his examinations of soldiers, primarily from Pennsylvania regiments, who had been discharged for various injuries and diseases from both the Civil and Mexican wars. The ledger was initially used (118 pages) to record transactions for a mercantile business belonging to another Edmund Snare, presumably a relative of Dr. Snare.

Collection comprises a deed of manumission for a "negro woman slave named Sophy and a negro girl named Sarah and a negro boy named Henry, children of said Sophy," former property of Sarah E. Murray of Anne Arundel County, Md., and then assigned to J. Nevett Steele of Baltimore, Maryland. The deed was signed and sealed by J. Nevett Steele and the administrator of Sarah E. Murray's personal estate, Mary Murray, then recorded in the [Howard?] District of Anne Arundel County on 1846 December 4. The deed was witnessed by Abner Neal and T.[Thomas] Hanson Belt.
