Minutes, financial records, correspondence, memorabilia, and other materials from various Durham labor unions and their local umbrella organization, the Durham Central Labor Union. Accession 2001-0007 has been interfiled with accession 1999-0158.

Oracles and books on divination (01-045)(28 items, 1.8 linear feet; dated ca. 1970s-1990s and undated), including 17 decks of tarot and other cards, many enclosed in fabric or leather. Shore designed two of the decks, "The Earth Alliance Deck" and "The Earthrise Deck." Also includes sets of runes and I Ching coins, a pendulum, an edition of the I CHING, a rune book edited by Ralph Blum, and other printed material regarding the I CHING and tarot cards.

Collection (02-197) contains primarily presentations and reports in videotape and paper format made to and at World Partner Council meetings (1996-1997). Also includes Andy Fenning's files of reports and manuals in paper, video, slide, and digital format prepared for or received at management meetings, a "Transformation" seminar (1997), and other speeches and presentations. Acquired as part of the John W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising, and Marketing History.

The papers consist of correspondence from Jay B. Hubbell and John Olin Eidson. The Eidson letters (5 items) discuss the upcoming program of the American Literature Section of the Modern Language Association of America and suggest Richard Armour as the featured speaker. The letters are arranged chronologically.

Ledgers (hard back and composition book), legal documents, family correspondence, almanacs, advertisements, and pamphlets.

Collection primarily contains papers pertaining to pensions for Confederate veterans and their widows. Other topics include N.C. political and financial affairs, and the Tar Heel Club.

The collection consists of letters written to Gilpin by numerous persons - a glittering array of mid-nineteenth century reformers. Quakers are prominent, but the Society of Friends was not discussed. The content is varied and represents his social and political interests. The publishing business rarely appears in the correspondence.

Correspondence, photographs, printed material, legal papers, and a journal, relating to the personal and business life of George E. Scott, buyer and seller of lumber in Ala. and Fla. Some material also concerns the Perdido Bay Lumber Company in Pensacola, Fla. Includes a journal Scott kept (1873-1874) while on a ship carrying lumber and naval stores from Boston to Florida. Also includes two years of courtship letters while Scott was in England.

Collection consists largely of correspondence between family members, friends, and business associates spanning three generations, as well as some Civil War and early Reconstruction letters relating to Hopkins' activities in New Orleans. Correspondents include Hopkins' daughter, Elizabeth; her husband Alfred Lawrence Aiken, a prominent banker in Boston; the Gadsden family of Charleston, S.C.; and the Peck family, relatives of Hopkins' wife, Lizzie. An information folder chronologically lists a portion of the collection. Also included in this collection are a few legal papers, financial papers, addresses and writings, pictures, and a miscellaneous folder that includes some genealogy. Subjects mentioned in the letters include travel in the U.S. and Europe, marriage and family life, illness, Williams College, Yale College, politics, law,"bloodletting with leeches," Civil War activities, and The Worcester Continentals.

The Joshua Lawrence Horne papers comprise primarily general correspondence (1918-1974, bulk 1959-1971), including many letters from Horne's secretary during Horne's annual visit to Orlando, Fla., with general news about Rocky Mount and Horne's publishing enterprise; letters from H.E.C. Bryant; and correspondence with representatives in the N.C. General Assembly and the U.S. Congress. The office files primarily concern the N.C. Dept. of Conservation and Development and the Associated Press.
