Consists of folders holding articles, reports, speeches, newsclippings, class notes, and various writings by Viki Ortiz and others. Organized into the following subseries: Cuba, Mexico, Latin America, International Women's Liberation, General, Adoption and Parenting, and Literature, which is further subdivided into three subseries. The organization of each subseries is explained under its title.

Collection (2003-0264) (14,000 items, 27 lin. ft.; dated [1970s]-2003 and n.d.) comprises McFadden's professional papers. Includes published materials, conference files, materials related to the Southeastern Women's Studies Association (of which she is a founding member), correspondence, writings, teaching materials, and subject files. Acquired as part of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture.

Addition (2005-0003) (2585 items, 5.0 lin. ft.; dated 1979-1999 and n.d.) comprises primarily research files, book notes, correspondence with other scholars and with her publisher, and drafts related to McFadden's book Golden Cables of Sympathy (1999). Also includes materials and notes from conferences she attended.

Addition (2005-0089) (2683 items, 4.2 lin. ft.; dated 1974-2005) comprises correspondence, subject files, reviews, research notes, and photographs related to Golden Cables of Sympathy; brochures, programs, and notes from conferences; academic files related to Ph.D students who were part of the Projects Demonstrating Excellence at the Union Institute Graduate School in Cincinnati, Ohio, 1995-2002.

Accession (26100 items; 43.5 lin. ft.; dated 1990-1998 and n.d.) comprises administrative files, records of the site search and other editorial board policy matters, correspondence, annual and semi-annual reports, copyedited manuscripts, readers' reports, and published manuscripts; and revisions of issues from each volume.

The addition (2004-0126) (1000 items, 3.0 lin. ft.; dated [1960s]-[1980s]) consists of manuals, directories, correspondence, convention information, programs, and brochures related to District 7710.

The addition (2008-0278) (10800 items; 12 lin. ft.; 1999-2008) includes administrative and program files, conference manuals, and other materials relating to Rotary International's activities between 1999 and 2008.

Accession (300 items, 0.6 lin. ft.; dated 1936-1994 and undated) contains sermons, letters, and diaries of William Allen McFadden, 1930-1991; sermons, journals, and letters of Glenora English McFadden, circa 1936-1994; and letters of Estella Graves English, 1959-1986. Includes a genealogy list compiled by Irene English Shoemaker. Also contains ephemera, photographs, and clippings. Acquired as part of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture.

The 2005 accession documents the activities of N.C. gay and lesbian organizations. Includes correspondence, newsletters, programs, flyers, and organizational material from One Voice; organizational material, correspondence, programs, invitations, minutes, registration records, financial records (bulk 1994) from Music & Message, the Gala Choruses Leadership Conference (Sept. 2-4, 1994 in Charlotte); correspondence, newsletters, clippings, financial records (1993-1996), minutes, and administrative records for the N.C. Lesbian and Gay Pride Board; fund raising material for the AIDS fund raiser Heart Strings (June 15, 1992), and Pelag benefit Our Family Celebration (Oct. 12, 1991); and files, promotional materials, newsletters, clippings, minutes, and financial records about a N.C. Lesbian and Gay Pride event, 1994. Also included are posters, t-shirts, 14 VHS video tapes, 1 CD-Rom, 50 photographs, and 25 slides.

Accession consists primarily of files, lectures, and papers for classes taught by Ucko; files pertaining to cross-cultural communications prepared for the U.S. Army JFK Special Warfare Center; 20 labeled color slides; and travel diaries from Sierra Leone, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Senegal, Pakistan, and Holland.

Accession contains black-and-white and color prints from photographer Paul Weinberg's exhibits and books on Southern African peoples, cultures, social conditions, and landscapes. Titles of projects and books in this collection: Travelling Light; The Moving Spirit; In Search of the San; Going Home; Once We Were Hunters; Kosi Bay; Working the Land & Back to the Land; and Durban-Impressions of an African City. Photographs document rural indigenous communities and urban culture in several African countries. There is also an oversize color exhibit poster related to the "Moving Spirit" project.

This collection consists of zines, primarily authored by women, acquired as donations from multiple collectors or purchased from book stores, zine fairs, and zine distributors. Acquired as part of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture.

Collection contains professional and personal correspondence including family letters. Also included are research papers and book chapters on taxonomy and prescriptive science.

Collection contains religious and activist conference and workshop materials, printed materials, clippings, a campaign T-shirt, one audiocassette, photographs, Davidson County (N.C.) Commissioner campaign materials, Charlotte Women's Political Caucus materials, and files related to public education in North Carolina. Acquired as part of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture.

Accession contains the organizational records of the Outdoor Advertising Association of Connecticut, primarily consisting of correspondence (1970-1987), rosters, bylaws, and other organizational files. Also included are files related to the Scenic Roadways project with the State of Connecticut, as well as lobbyist files and information on senate bills that may affect outdoor advertising. Acquired as part of the John W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising, and Marketing History.

Collection contains materials related to Stauber's service in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Some of the material contains notes and scripts of announcements and news reports made by Stauber on a radio show onboard the USS Biloxi. These radio broadcasts are dated January-April 1945 and document, among other things, the U.S. invasion of Iwo Jima and contain marks of official censorship. A large part of the collection consists of correspondence, primarily from Stauber to his mother (1942-1945). Also included are photographs of USS Biloxi reunions (1974-1980), one of which was located in Durham, North Carolina.

The Center for Documentary Studies Double Take Exhibition Collection contains black and white and color photographs that were on display at the Center for Documentary Studies. The photographs are from series that were published in DOUBLETAKE or by DoubleTake books between 1995-1997. Many were taken by photographers in the Southern U.S., but there are also images from Massachusetts, Illinois, and from countries such as Vietnam and Ireland.

Accession (2008-0029) (3600 items; 4.8 lin. ft.; dated 1970-1998, bulk 1973-1982) includes speeches, essays, pamphlets and other feminist publications (e.g. newspapers and journals), administrative files of all the feminist organizations Jones founded or worked with, conference files, project files, subject files, correspondence, and ephemera (including four posters and two audiocassettes). Some of the organizations represented include the YWCA, My Sister's Place, the Women's Legal Defense Fund's Task Force on Abused Women, and the Feminist Alliance Against Rape.
