Large bibliographic index maintained by Henry and Ida Schuman as a catalog of their inventory of rare books and manuscripts related to the history of medicine. Beyond the usual bibliographic information there are also detailed dealer descriptions of the items and their artifactual, bibliographic, or research value. Many of the cards also contain handwritten annotations indicating buyer information and dates of sale. The main card file extends to 15 boxes, with smaller index files in other boxes for mathematical works and other miscellaneous groups. There are roughly 360 cards per box, arranged in alphabetical order by author or in some cases by title.

Consists of nine sub-series spanning Chatterley's career as a documentary photographer: Social Events, Religious Iconography, Labor, Southern Landscapes, Travel, Family, Maine Folklife, TROSA, and Downeast North Carolina, with the bulk of the series made up of Social Events and Labor. Original captions were taken from back of prints. Subseries are arranged in a chronological sequence; the 127 prints within are in original order as received.

Small series includes materials concerning the organization of the 1980 election campaign in which Derian served as Deputy Director, and assisted with recruitment of more minority and women campaigners. Also contains items documenting procedures for Derian's position in the White House. Folder titles are original.

Bound holograph manuscripts containing case notes on orthopedic patients with a variety of complaints, including descriptions of each case and patient data such as name, age, sex, address, dates of consultations, diagnosis, treatment, and outcome. Includes several one-page manuscripts laid in as well as outlines made of patient body parts showing measurements of the actual curvature and size of affected areas. There are many other patient case studies in folders housed in the Patient Case Files Series. Medical records are open for research use.

Series comprises materials for sixteen case files pursued by legal staff of the Center for Justice and Accountability (CJA) in the late 1990s into the 2000s. Supporting materials date as early as the 1940s. The cases are organized alphabetically into the following subseries: Ahmed v. Magan, Cabello v. Fernández-Larios, Chavez v. Carranza, Doe vs. Ali, Doe v. Constant, Doe v. Liu Qi, Doe v. Lumintang, Doe v. Saravia, Guatemala Genocide Trial, Jean v. Dorélien, Mehinovic v. Vuckovic, Reisner v. Leso, Reyes v. López Grijalba, Romagoza Arce v. García and Vides Casanova, USA v. Belfast, and Yousuf v. Samantar. Within each case file, materials are typically arranged in original order as received, in rough alphabetical or chronological order. See subseries descriptions for details on contents and arrangement of these materials.

Comprises petitions, filings, documents relating to the Combatant Status Review Tribunal (CRST), and a wide variety of legal records regarding the six Bahrainis' and Guantánamo detainees' cases such as Al-Odah and Boumediene. The series documents legal efforts of their lawyers for writ of habeas corpus, writ of certiorari, amelioration of living condition at Camp Delta, and finally for the release and repatriation of their clients. The series also contain documents regarding the government's efforts to preclude attempts to attain any rights for the detainees kept extra-judicially as enemy combatants by the U.S. military at Camp Delta. The series contains extensive material related to the workings and procedures of and trials by the Combatant Status Review Tribunal (CSRT), which was established by the U.S. government on July 7, 2004. Also comprehensively covered in this series are the legal records and other documents concerning the Detainee Treatment Act of 2005 and Military Commission Act of 2006. The Bahraini detainees Al-Dossari and Al-Murbati cases are especially well-documented. The series is composed predominantly of materials in English language, but also contains many Arabic documents some of which are also translated into English. Other items include a twelve-minute unclassified audio recording on CD-R of CRST hearing for Al-Murbati (Box 4) and photographic images of the families of the detainees.

Case files are arranged in alphabetical order by defendant's last name: Robert Bacon Jr., David Junior Brown, Frederick Camacho, Willie Ervin Fisher, Harvey Lee Green Jr., Zane Hill, David Earl Huffstetler, Joseph Timothy Keel (the largest case file at 26 boxes), Gary Wayne Long, James Lewis Martin Jr., Elton Ozell McLaughlin, and Phillip Thomas Robbins Jr.. They typically include some combination of transcripts, affidavits, attorney notes, investigative files, clemency requests, audiovisual materials, petitions, pleadings, testimony (including medical, legal, and eyewitness), correspondence, motions, photographs, Resource Center files, and some electronic records. Each individual's case history is described at beginning of the corresponding file grouping. The majority of the case files consist of 5-9 boxes of materials. The smallest case files at two boxes each are for Camacho and Robbins; the largest are those of Keel and McLaughlin, at 26 and 20 boxes respectively. Folder titles below are original titles as supplied by CDPL staff, and the original order of the files within each case group has been retained. Materials are arranged alphabetically, followed by audio and oversized materials. Plays are listed by title, and other writings are listed by author. Printed materials have been removed and added to the Women and LGBT Rights Periodicals Collection.

Included in the Center Leadership and Administrative series are administrative records in the form of progress and other reports, accounting files, correspondence, historic documents, minutes, by-laws, member biographies, photographs, and audiovisual media. They follow the Joint Center original arrangement, which may be chronological and/or alphabetical. The series is divided into two subseries: Board of Governors (BOG), and Office of the President (OOP). The BOG files relate to board activities, namely the annual dinner and meeting, that date back to the organization's founding in the late 1960s. The OOP files are divided into the offices of Eddie N. Williams, Togo D. West, and Ralph B. Everett, with each having their respective correspondence, speeches, and subject files. The Presidents' subject files were created by the OOP and include files for each of the three presidents represented in this collection.

In 1990, Frank Espada was asked by his friend and colleague from Chicago, Samuel Betances, to photograph the indigenous Chamorro people of Guam, Saipan, Titian and Rota in the Mariana Islands. Modeled after Espada's Puerto Rican Diaspora project, the aim of this project was to chronicle the Chamorro culture as well as the social challenges faced by this group, whose diaspora includes Hawaii and California. Some of the photographs in this series were taken at a Chamorro festival in California, but most were taken on Guam, the island with the largest concentration of Chamorro people. One series of about 290 work prints documents the funeral procession and expressions of protest after the suicide of former Guam governor Ricardo Bordallo in February 1990. Specific projects, programs, and protests are described in the photograph or folder titles. Most titles are retained from the originals.

Contains chapter organization history, membership lists, minutes, and a guide for chapter historians. By request of the donor, minutes are restricted to current Pi Beta Phi, North Carolina Beta chapter members. Users must obtain written permission from the North Carolina Beta chapter President to view the minutes. Ordered by alphabetically by folder title. The Petition of Mu Lambda Chapter of Duke University to Pi Beta Phi Fraternity contains profiles of each member, recommendations, and general history of Mu Lambda's petition to join Pi Beta Phi. Ordered alphabetically by folder title.

Primarily contains photocopies of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests by the Horman family and the responsive documents produced by U.S. agencies regarding the murder of US journalist Charles Horman during the 1973 military coup in Chile. Muñoz obtained these documents from Horman's widow Joyce as part of his research for In the Dictator's Shadow . FOIA materials are arranged by date of the original document. Also included are photocopies of public statements, clippings, House sub-committee testimony, materials related to the production of the film Missing , and the Horman family's correspondence and notes regarding the case. FOIA materials appear first, followed by supporting materials.

Charles Sloane was a civil engineer based in Colorado, Utah, and California. Topics of his letters include their long-distance relationship and his love for Eastman, marriage, his study of Eastern philosophy, equality between the sexes, and their possible meeting. He describes his work, graft in his profession, his sale and purchase of stock in various companies, and the western scenes he encounters.

Includes a photocopy of a 1965 senior honors thesis on Dr. Nesbitt by Chesley C. Herbert III, and reports on or speeches about public health.

Series contains correspondence, labor union records, and a collection of labor publications from 1913-1955.

This series consists of images of Beijing city scenes, chiefly taken on the street, with a handful of photographs taken in rural areas outside the city limits. Photographs in this series focus on urban subjects, but there are also some images taken outside the city of farms and villages. Work scenes show people operating water mills, refining salt, making cloisonne, smelting iron, washing quartz gold, fishing from boats, and milling wheat. Other scenes feature a funeral procession, an honor guard procession, camel trains, ferry boats, city walls, temples and pagodas, a bell tower, astronomy instruments, a Christian church, private gardens and parks in Peking, the Great Wall, and Buddhist stone carvings.

Contains records documenting the policies, practices, and daily operations of the Choices Women's Medical Center, one of the first outpatient abortion clinics in the United States as well as a general women's health provider. Organized into the following subseries: Correspondence, Subject Files, Legal Papers, Personnel, Security, Staff Files, Marketing, Operations, and Electronic Format. Correspondence, commercial scripts and other printed materials

The Church Life series documents Creech's work as a United Methodist minister in North Carolina and Omaha, Nebraska. The series contains papers beginning in 1981 from Creech's time at Warsaw United Methodist Church in Warsaw, NC through his defrocking in 1999. The bulk of the series comprises correspondence with parishioners and church officials, media coverage of his time as pastor including his sometimes controversial support of gay rights issues, church newsletters, and printed material. The First Trial and Second Trial subseries document the two church trials held in Nebraska that eventually led to Creech's defrocking in 1999.

Specimen book created by Heppenheimer & Maurer, dated approximately 1878, and distributed to Sauer, Farrell, & Co. Book contains about 120 pages with labels pasted on each side of each page. Each label has a four-digit number stamped in blue ink, ranging from the 1600s to the 7000s. The labels are not in numerical order. The book and its pages are in fair condition; the book's binding needs preservation work, the back cover is detached, and some pages are dirty. The labels' lithographs are in excellent condition, many with vibrant colors. The artwork is generally very bright with subjects tending towards an exotic or tropical feel.

These records document operations at the City Auditorium of Asheville, North Carolina, managed by Hubert Hayes from about 1945 to 1954. Entertainment documented in these records includes dances, athletic events, shows on ice, holiday-themed shows, patriotic entertainment, barber shop quartets, and solo performances by vocalists and other musicians. Materials include calendars, correspondence related to operations, correspondence with entertainers and business friends, printed Auditorium publicity items, photographs, financial reports, union contracts and other legal documents, and media/agent packets for entertainers and acts.

Titles are derived from original titles or captions found on the backs of the prints. Almost all the prints are attributed to SNCC photographers.

The Client Correspondence series contains files kept by the Virginia Barber Literary Agency on each of its clients, and occasional potential clients or non-clients, while they were active with the agency between 1978 and the sale of VBLA in 2001. Some files extend to 2003 and overlap the VBLA's acquisition by the William Morris Agency.

Consists of strategic plans created for clients of Marshall, as well as correspondence and notes. Arranged alphabetically.

Contains correspondence, reports, clippings, artwork, storyboards, print advertisements and other printed materials for Bates' clients from 1969 to 2002. Major clients represented in this series include Brown & Williamson (Kool, Lucky Strike cigarettes), Burroughs-Wellcome (Zovirax), Carter-Wallace (Arrid, Pearl Drops toothpaste, Trojan condoms), Hyundai America, Joint Recruiting Advertising Program (JRAP), Miller Brewing Co., Paddington Corporation (Bailey's Irish Cream, J&B whiskey), Peace Corps, Pfizer (Visine), the U.S. Navy, and Warner-Lambert. The extent of materials varies among the clients. In some cases, the series includes only artwork related to advertising campaigns, proof sheets of print advertisements, or correspondence. Holdings are more extensive for other clients, and includes broadcast placement schedules, account expenditure audits, and market research studies. Print advertising for many of these clients have been maintained separately in bound volumes and may be found in the Print Books Series. The series begins with a "general files" section that includes materials relevant to overall client relations and an archived, numbered set of dismantled storyboards for numerous clients. Thereafter, the series is arranged alphabetically by client name.

Consists of reports, news clippings, and some advertisements pertaining to particular JWT clients. The folders also include the Review Board records from 1970 for many of the individual clients in this series. Those for various clients from 1966 are filed in the Subject Files Series. The series is arranged alphabetically by client.

This series consists of reports, memoranda, scripts, storyboards, collateral literature, rough drafts, notes, and photographs related to the creative development of advertising campaigns. An Information Folder found at the beginning of the series contains biographical information on Hatcher and his personal notes of his thoughts and experiences with serveral client's accounts on which he worked.

Series consists of clipped newspaper and newsprint comic strips collected by the Murrays and bundled by title and date. Items have been filed as best as possible in loose chronological order, arranged alphabetically by title of the comic strip.

The majority of this series consists of newspaper clippings originally collected by C.C. Spaulding, Asa Spaulding, and other unknown figures. Only a small amount of original newspapers and magazine pages remain in the series; nearly all of the clippings are photocopies of the original article. Many of the clippings relate to the civil rights movement, post-dating C.C. Spaulding's life, suggesting that they were acquired by other people associated with NC Mutual in the mid-twentieth century. Topics include the desegregation/integration of schools and public spaces; racial violence, lawsuits, and protests accompanying the civil rights movement; African American education, colleges, and businesses; politics; issues relating to the Cold War; insurance companies and governance; and other miscellaneous files on various public figures and events. NC Mutual coverage and publicity represents another significant component of the series, along with a large amount of clippings documenting C.C. Spaulding's speeches, appearances, and work with NC Mutual. The bulk of the clippings date from the 1940s through the 1960s.

Three folders are separated into clippings, programs, and miscellaneous items that deal primarily with Klein's musical career. Many of the clippings are of advertisements for bands and concerts led by Klein in local clubs and bars in the Cleveland area in the 1930s and 1940s. Another folder contains concert programs and promotional materials dating primarily to Klein's time in Irene Vermillion's band in the first half of the 1930s. There are also several King trumpet advertisements. The miscellaneous items folder contains, among other items, a eulogy for Lillian Houston, who performed with Klein in Ina Ray Hutton's band, an award certificate to Klein for a performance in 1933, a letter from the King trumpet company, and an invitation to play on a USO tour in an all girl orchestra led by Alfonso D'Artega in 1943.
