Weird Tales, 1932

Randy Riddle note: Weird Tales was a proposed radio horror series recorded in Hollywood in 1932, based on stories from the anthology magazine of the same title. It appears that the publisher produced at least some audition programs for a possible series, but that it was never actually broadcast. The series (or proposed series) was produced by Hollywood Radio Attractions, 4376 Sunset Drive, Hollywood. In a promotional flyer for the program, they advertise three episodes that had been produced - the company was planning to record a total of 52 half-hour shows. This disc, and another with a different take of this same material, seems to be the only discs that survive from the effort. The collector who gave this to me, Jim Blackson, has the other disc with a different take. He included a recording of his disc so that the slightly different take could be compared to this one. Both discs have blank Columbia labels, so these may be test pressings. The series was designed to play twice a week, presenting two fifteen minute episodes comprising one story.
