This accession is an addition to an existing processed collection of materials. The financial records in this accession document the operations, organization, and fund raising activities of ALFA from 1972 to 1993, chiefly from 1977-1993. Included in this collection are: Expense/Income ledgers, financial reports, general meeting minutes, copies of deeds and contracts, business correspondence, fund raising materials, lists of members, donations registers, canceled checks, and bank statements.

Correspondence with various individuals, organizations, and literary magazines, arranged in alphabetical order. Some correspondence is foldered by subject and incorporated into the alphabetical arrangement. Also included with this accession are miscellaneous published and unpublished poetry and essays, diaries, and miscellaneous clippings and notes.

Materials in this accession span the dates 1994 through 2000.

Accession (260 items; 9 lin. ft.) contains black-and-white prints (16x20 and 11x14) by Sartor, focusing especially on home, family, and suburban life in the American South.

Primarily records of the American Economic Review,, specifically office files consisting of correspondence, manuscripts, book reviews, and referee reports (1969-1998). There are also records for the American Economic Association (1886-1984) and the Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession (CSWEP, 1972-1993), including histories, reports, minutes, newsletters, statistics, and material related to membership, conferences, and boards. There is a small set of office files for the Journal of Economic Literature (1975, 1984-1994, and undated). In addition, there are 50 black-and-white photographs of former AEA presidents, a 39x10-inch black-and-white group photograph taken at an unidentified meeting, 48 rolls of microfilm from various journals (mostly AER), 63 microfiche of JEL correspondence ([1968]-1980), 7 reel-to-reel audiotapes, and 15 floppy disks from CSWEP.

Accession (778 items, 22.0 linear feet; dated 1971-2001) contains files of abortion, pregnancy, and hysterectomy malpractice cases in which Crist served as a consultant or codefendant along with the Crist Clinic. There is also printed material on reproductive topics. Also includes 2 VHS videocassettes; 6 color slides; 30 black-and-white and 2 color photographs. Acquired as part of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture.

Consists of folders holding articles, reports, speeches, newsclippings, class notes, and various writings by Viki Ortiz and others. Organized into the following subseries: Cuba, Mexico, Latin America, International Women's Liberation, General, Adoption and Parenting, and Literature, which is further subdivided into three subseries. The organization of each subseries is explained under its title.

Collection (2003-0264) (14,000 items, 27 lin. ft.; dated [1970s]-2003 and n.d.) comprises McFadden's professional papers. Includes published materials, conference files, materials related to the Southeastern Women's Studies Association (of which she is a founding member), correspondence, writings, teaching materials, and subject files. Acquired as part of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture.

Accession (26100 items; 43.5 lin. ft.; dated 1990-1998 and n.d.) comprises administrative files, records of the site search and other editorial board policy matters, correspondence, annual and semi-annual reports, copyedited manuscripts, readers' reports, and published manuscripts; and revisions of issues from each volume.

The addition (2004-0126) (1000 items, 3.0 lin. ft.; dated [1960s]-[1980s]) consists of manuals, directories, correspondence, convention information, programs, and brochures related to District 7710.

Accession (300 items, 0.6 lin. ft.; dated 1936-1994 and undated) contains sermons, letters, and diaries of William Allen McFadden, 1930-1991; sermons, journals, and letters of Glenora English McFadden, circa 1936-1994; and letters of Estella Graves English, 1959-1986. Includes a genealogy list compiled by Irene English Shoemaker. Also contains ephemera, photographs, and clippings. Acquired as part of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture.

The 2005 accession documents the activities of N.C. gay and lesbian organizations. Includes correspondence, newsletters, programs, flyers, and organizational material from One Voice; organizational material, correspondence, programs, invitations, minutes, registration records, financial records (bulk 1994) from Music & Message, the Gala Choruses Leadership Conference (Sept. 2-4, 1994 in Charlotte); correspondence, newsletters, clippings, financial records (1993-1996), minutes, and administrative records for the N.C. Lesbian and Gay Pride Board; fund raising material for the AIDS fund raiser Heart Strings (June 15, 1992), and Pelag benefit Our Family Celebration (Oct. 12, 1991); and files, promotional materials, newsletters, clippings, minutes, and financial records about a N.C. Lesbian and Gay Pride event, 1994. Also included are posters, t-shirts, 14 VHS video tapes, 1 CD-Rom, 50 photographs, and 25 slides.

Accession consists primarily of files, lectures, and papers for classes taught by Ucko; files pertaining to cross-cultural communications prepared for the U.S. Army JFK Special Warfare Center; 20 labeled color slides; and travel diaries from Sierra Leone, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Senegal, Pakistan, and Holland.

Accession contains black-and-white and color prints from photographer Paul Weinberg's exhibits and books on Southern African peoples, cultures, social conditions, and landscapes. Titles of projects and books in this collection: Travelling Light; The Moving Spirit; In Search of the San; Going Home; Once We Were Hunters; Kosi Bay; Working the Land & Back to the Land; and Durban-Impressions of an African City. Photographs document rural indigenous communities and urban culture in several African countries. There is also an oversize color exhibit poster related to the "Moving Spirit" project.

This collection consists of zines, primarily authored by women, acquired as donations from multiple collectors or purchased from book stores, zine fairs, and zine distributors. Acquired as part of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture.

Collection contains professional and personal correspondence including family letters. Also included are research papers and book chapters on taxonomy and prescriptive science.

Collection contains religious and activist conference and workshop materials, printed materials, clippings, a campaign T-shirt, one audiocassette, photographs, Davidson County (N.C.) Commissioner campaign materials, Charlotte Women's Political Caucus materials, and files related to public education in North Carolina. Acquired as part of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture.

Accession contains the organizational records of the Outdoor Advertising Association of Connecticut, primarily consisting of correspondence (1970-1987), rosters, bylaws, and other organizational files. Also included are files related to the Scenic Roadways project with the State of Connecticut, as well as lobbyist files and information on senate bills that may affect outdoor advertising. Acquired as part of the John W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising, and Marketing History.

Collection contains materials related to Stauber's service in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Some of the material contains notes and scripts of announcements and news reports made by Stauber on a radio show onboard the USS Biloxi. These radio broadcasts are dated January-April 1945 and document, among other things, the U.S. invasion of Iwo Jima and contain marks of official censorship. A large part of the collection consists of correspondence, primarily from Stauber to his mother (1942-1945). Also included are photographs of USS Biloxi reunions (1974-1980), one of which was located in Durham, North Carolina.

The Center for Documentary Studies Double Take Exhibition Collection contains black and white and color photographs that were on display at the Center for Documentary Studies. The photographs are from series that were published in DOUBLETAKE or by DoubleTake books between 1995-1997. Many were taken by photographers in the Southern U.S., but there are also images from Massachusetts, Illinois, and from countries such as Vietnam and Ireland.

Accession (2008-0029) (3600 items; 4.8 lin. ft.; dated 1970-1998, bulk 1973-1982) includes speeches, essays, pamphlets and other feminist publications (e.g. newspapers and journals), administrative files of all the feminist organizations Jones founded or worked with, conference files, project files, subject files, correspondence, and ephemera (including four posters and two audiocassettes). Some of the organizations represented include the YWCA, My Sister's Place, the Women's Legal Defense Fund's Task Force on Abused Women, and the Feminist Alliance Against Rape.

Manuscripts, photocopies of manuscripts, and ozalid reproductions of scores and parts of Guevara Ochoa's compositions. Several contain performance and editorial markings.

Accession (2008-0168) (900 items; 1.5 lin. ft.; dated 1970-2006) includes TBPG newsletters from 1993-2006, news clippings highlighting the lesbian and gay communities, and some administrative material. Acquired as part of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture.

The collection includes a Census 2000 advertising binder, several informational and promotional posters, a partnership informational kit, and two special reports. There are also two VHS tapes with advertisements from the Census 2000 campaign.

The accession (2008-0286) includes administrative files, program and reunion materials, obituaries, correspondence, financial information, newsletters, periodicals, and photographs relating to the activities and programs of the Veteran Feminists of America. Special media formats include DVDs, floppy disks, and CDs, some of which have been withdrawn for electronic preservation. There are also medals and other ephemera. Acquired as part of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture.

Collection (2009-0015) (3 lin. ft.; dated 1961-2004) includes correspondence, chronological files, calendars, clippings, memorabilia, notes, and administrative materials largely dating from Joseph's time as an undersecretary for the Department of the Interior and his ambassadorship to South Africa. Also included are some materials from his work for the Council on Foundations, largely dating from the late 1980s, and some awards and honors dating from the early 2000s. Some newspaper clippings dating from the 1960s discuss his Civil Rights work and ministerial activities. This material has not been processed and therefore no arrangement has been completed at this time. Acquired as part of the John Hope Franklin Research Center for African and African American History and Culture.

The collection consists of indentures, contracts, insurance policies, receipts, and other business-related ephemera for the Markham family of Durham, North Carolina, with the bulk of the material dating from the 1910s. Other materials include personal correspondence to and from Charles Markham in the 1940s, as well as some undated blueprints and other miscellaneous ephemera.

The accession (2009-0084) (3.6 lin. ft.; 2700 items; dated 1970s-2000s) consists of correspondence, conference materials, awards, newspaper clippings, and other ephemera from the life and volunteering of Tibbie Roberts. Items of note include her materials from the North Carolina Council of Churches, the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing (1995), North Carolina Council for Women, the National Women's Conference in Houston (1978), and the United Methodist Church's United Methodist Women Southeast Jurisdiction.

Includes fieldwork reports, interview tapes, slides, photographs, and other documentary material from the research and observations conducted by participants in the Durham Traditional Arts Survey Project. Durham communities and artists represented in the project include African American, African immigrants, Latino, Middle Eastern, Jewish, South Indian, and Asian, as well as occupational traditions and rural community traditions. Acquired as part of the Archive of Documentary Arts.

Accession (2009-0097) (1650 items; 2.7 lin. ft.; dated 1970s-2008) includes campaign materials; correspondence, 1977-2000s; and research materials from various bills and issues from Holt's career, including the ERA, marital rape, wine laws, the lottery, juvenile justice, nursing, health education, mental retardation, archaeology, domestic violence, hospice, and the Holocaust. Other files relate to Holt's legislative career, including the North Carolina Legislative Women's Caucus; the State Council for Social Legislation; tribute dinners and awards; and other miscellaneous papers and letters.

The accession (2009-0098) (7200 items; 9.6 lin. ft.; dated 1993-2004) includes administrative and financial records, programming materials, and organizational files, all stemming from retreats, training, workshops, and community events sponsored or promoted by SONG. The accession also includes SONG materials from the Bayard Rustin project, People of Color activities, Pride at Work, and the Highlander Economy Educational Institute, among others. Acquired as part of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture.

Accession (2009-0100) (3 notebooks; 0.6 lin. ft.; dated 1970s) consists of three spiral-bound collections of typed memoirs written by Hooper around the 1970s. Subjects include her childhood, her journalism career in Chicago, her transition into advertising with Marshall Fields, and descriptions of her friends, her travels, and her book collections.

The collection (2009-0119) (100 items; 2.1 lin. ft.; dated 1983-2000) includes videotapes of Ernest films; audiocassettes of commericals; advertising kits used to pitch Ernest as a spokesman for local markets; Ernest memorabilia, including t-shirts, movie posters, buttons, a towel, and a doll; and other miscellaneous marketing tools used by the Carden and Cherry Advertising Agency.

This collection (2009-0129) (200 items; 1.8 lin. ft.; dated 1890s-2000) includes a variety of materials from Norine Shipley Norris, in particular her school notebooks, correspondence, and catalogs from the Southern Female College, which she attended for at least two years. Of note is the correspondence from Earnest Sevier Cox, a white supremist who courted Shipley for a time (1905-1906); photographs and records from her years of teaching at Kirkwood Baptist Church (1901-1904); and her handwritten application to the Daughters of the American Revolution (1918). Also included are a number of photographs and tintypes, scrapbooks, several books of poetry and literature, and miscellaneous clippings and ephemera.

Largely reports and studies by Applied Econometrics for various clients, including railroads, paper companies, copper, newspaper, and electric power. Also includes working papers and charts, offprints and reprints, Economic Measures publications, some correspondence, and other miscellaneous material related to Roos' work, especially post-World War II.

Accession (2009-0161) (500 items; 0.6 lin. ft.; dated 1967-1971) includes Miller's personal correspondence, materials and background information from the Pennsylvania Abortion Law Commission, and general abortion materials from rights activists and opponents in Pennsylvania and Colorado.

Accession (2009-0163) (12,375 items; 16.5 lin. ft.; dated 1979-2009) includes board materials, training guides and reports, program materials, conference files, newsletters and publications, news clippings and photocopies, photographs, slides, electronic files and images, and videos. Women Work! has been abbreviated to WW! when possible.

Accession (2009-0174) (150 items; 0.6 lin. ft.; dated 1960s-2005) includes biographies and articles about Blum, programs and announcements from gallery shows she curated or participated in, and some photocopied newspaper articles about her role in the women's art movement.

Accession (2009-0180) (1.2 lin. ft.; 900 items; dated 1992-2001) includes materials from the abortion debate of the 1990s, ranging in scope from an Army of God handbook to the NARAL state-by-state abortion law review. Some articles were written by Tepe, but most are third-party scholarly journals, mainstream publications, or medical reports on the physical, mental, and emotional effects of abortion.

Accession (2009-0194) (1200 items; 4 lin. ft.; dated 2006-2009) includes marketing plans, sample advertisements and mailings, and launch details for a variety of Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, and Cadillac vehicles between 2006 and 2008.

Accession (2009-0209) (11.6 lin. ft.; 7100 items; dated 1978-2009) includes administrative and organizational records from the entire history of the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys. Materials include membership directories, conference binders, surveys and other research about women in the profession, videotapes from annual conferences, committee and task force files, meeting minutes, articles of incorporation, photographs from events, and other related materials.
