Documents chiefly Henkel's communication with staff in management, with other JWT offices in foreign correspondence, and with his co-workers through memoranda. The History and Membership folder contains pages that originally were bound together as a book, dating from 1926-1933. Financial records show the income and expenditures, although some of this information is also contained in the minutes. The folder titled "Point System," which details the system by which students earned recognition by the society, although there is some indication in the minutes that the student body in general was not aware of this system of points. Unclaimed certificates are membership certificates never collected by members for various reasons, and show what the certificates looked like over the years.

The General Information series includes information relevant to the entire program, rather than to specific courses or program years.

Includes correspondence related to financial, organizational and planing aspects of JWT, pertaining to company mergers and company and employee stock investments. Also included are files on JWT international activities in Europe, Great Britain, South Africa, China and Australia.

A significant portion of the files pertain to the company's stock investments, and to employees' stock ownership programs. Contains information regarding companies proposed for acquisition by JWT; details from the acquisition of Winona Research; research and presentations regarding the state of advertising in China; strategic planning information for JWT Group and its subsidiaries; as well as some information about mega mergers and so called mega agencies. Materials include correspondence, notes, reports, news clippings, presentation slides, logos, contracts, financial documents, revenue projections, and promotional brochures.

Contains correspondence, memoranda and periodical reports on JWT management and marketing, JWT's international offices and operations, as well as on other international advertising agencies. Topics include capital expenditures, fees and commissions, management salary and bonus policies, and stock incentive plans. The correspondence on international new business includes clients such as Hertz, Honda, and IBM. Arranged alphabetically.

Thomas's assorted correspondence along with extensive notes, loose account pages, and other miscellaneous items are sorted chronologically by year into General Papers. There are also volumes with travel diaries for various business ventures and letterbooks with copies of his incoming and outgoing correspondence. This series documents his various businesses and investments, his Confederate service during the Civil War, his work as an Indian agent, and his family life and friendships. Additional material on his work with the Eastern Band of Cherokee can be found in the Cherokee Papers Series; additional contracts, reports, and petitions relating to railroads and turnpikes can be found in the Infrastructure Series.

Correspondence (two letters from Norman Rockwell), biographical information, clippings, sketches, school yearbooks, publications and certificates of recognition. Included are articles about "Elmer," the character created by Scott to help promote the 1940 World's Fair. Arranged alphabetically.

These political posters from the former Soviet Union cover the period between the end of the "New Economic Policy" and the beginning of the first "Five Year Plan" and cover a range of related issues related to religion, economic and social changes, and political events. Their titles have been translated into English by Raphael Lemkin (1900-1959), most likely during his brief tenure as a visiting instructor in the Duke University Law School (1941-1942). When dates are present they have been added.

Series contains the general records of the Duke University Union, from before its inception through the 2000s. Records are mostly paper and contain information about the operation of the Union and its committees.

Correspondence, mostly to or from McNeill Smith, and alphabetical files. Other correspondents include Commission and Committee members, lawyers, professors, members of other organizations, and other individuals interested in Committee work. Also includes minutes, affidavit forms, reports, printed material and press releases concerning open meetings. Arranged chronologically within files.

Includes correspondence between the Delta Beta Chapter, Duke University, and the Kappa Kappa Gamma headquarters, Kappa Kappa Gamma songbooks, pledge books, pledge rolls, notes from a leadership convention, and Delta Beta publications.

The General Yearly Files contain information about both the women's and men's swimming and diving teams, although the bulk of the records in this series concern the men's swimming and diving teams.

The Geographic series, the largest in the collection, is comprised of files representing about 100 countries and forms the backbone of ICTJ's collection. The country files include ICTJ reports, journal articles, publications about governance, rule of law, political stability, reparations, and human rights violations, as well as materials from various country's truth and reconciliation commissions. These materials are unique to each country and provide insight into the impact ICTJ's work has on every citizen, from victims to perpetrators, children and women to ex-combatants.

Chiefly correspondence to and from Hanes, and printed material, such as brochures, booklets, leaflets, pamphlets, newsletters, and programs. Also included are photographs, reports and annual reports, clippings, surveys, membership lists, and press releases. Organized alphabetically by geographic area, first by state, then city. The small amount of material for various foreign countries follows the U.S. folders.

Most of the earliest items pertain to Mrs. Walton's family, the Bakers, who had settled in Hingham, Massachusetts at least by the eighteenth-century. Letters to Mrs. Walton comprise a major segment of this series, including those to her from her father, James Baker, 1880-1882. Included are courtship letters from George Walton, a physician who attended Eleanore Walton while she was convalescing near Deland, Florida. Most were written from 1891-1892, after she returned to her home in Chicago. Letters from George Walton after the marriage suggest financial hardship and indicate that the couple was frequently separated from the beginning of their marriage and during the early childhood of their son Loring. After 1895, there is a gap in the correspondence.

Box 7 also contains notes and correspondence by Mary Anne Holmes, Joseph H. H. Holmes, and Stephen Pemberton.

The series includes several letters from Derby to his mother that reflect his struggle adjusting to life at West Point (1874-1875 and undated), and two letters written to her while on leave in France (1888); 15 letters to Derby from his mother (1895-1896, 1902, and undated) along with two enclosed letters from others; 29 letters to Derby that pertain to his efforts as a military engineer, most of which are from suppliers such as Hecla Powder Co., Rendrock Powder Co., and Rand Drill Co. regarding explosives and other equipment required for removing underwater obstructions (1884-1886 and undated); and 3 items from other sources including a telegram dated 1924.

Series includes clippings; correspondence; ledgers and account books; maps and sketches; photographs; writings and other materials. Some of the writings date from the Harley's student days, but the bulk of materials pertain to the business of running the mission; Harley's study of the Mano culture, language, and other anthropological research; travel; tropical diseases; and family matters. The series also documents Harley's participation in surveys of Liberia's economic and mineral resources for the U.S. government during World War II.

This collection's origins are largely unknown, as it came to the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book & Manuscript Library via an internal transfer from Perkins Library. It consists of several folders of newspapers, ranging in length from one to a dozen pages. There are numerous regiments represented; in some cases there are nearly complete runs of the regiment's publication, and in other cases only one or two issues. It appears that all of the German fronts in Europe are represented.

Series contains 937 collodion glass plate negatives, chiefly in half and quarter-plate sizes, bearing individual and group portraits of men, women, and children. Some scenes are more informal and show outdoor gatherings and a few show landscapes and city scenes. Often plates contain multiple images in rows, up to 24 per plate; these small portraits were often called "penny portraits" from the camera used to take multiple, small, and inexpensive images on one plate. Most of the subjects' names and locations are unknown, but some names and places have been identified through an ongoing collaboration with researchers and other individuals. Hugh Mangum and family members have been identified in several images; see additional notes for individual plate numbers in this series description.

Materials include membership rolls, financial documents, meeting minutes, and other congregational records, as well as a commemorative World War II scroll. Sisterhood and regional Hadassah records include minutes from meetings in which Gertrude Weil participated.

Material related to how IAFFE started and operates as an international non-profit professional association, such as Board of Director meeting packets, annual reports and strategic plans, and financial records. This series documents the activities of the Board, most officers (like Presidents Jean Shackelford, Nina Agarwal, and Edith Kuiper), and some staff and committees (like Executive, Finance, and Development).

This series contains 42 books with admissions, course, and grade information on students at both Normal and Trinity Colleges. The books are bound, usually large, and at least one page is devoted to each student. The books are arranged chronologically and students are usually listed alphabetically within the books. The first book in the series, 1853-1859, covers grades from Normal College, while the remainder of the material refers to Trinity College. A gap from the years 1888-1898 exists through no evidence has been found as to where those books may be located. The grade book for people who entered Trinity College from 1908 to 1911 is also missing from our collection. This book was probably lost in the 1911 Washington Duke building fire.

Includes clippings, rush handbooks, general flyers, a history of fraternity housing locations, and student evaluations of sororities. Also contains correspondence between fraternities, sororities, and Duke University regarding campus policies.

Prints are identified by unique number assigned by photographer and arranged by country and then chronologically by number. Some numbers are incomplete. Prints with no place name carry the abbreviation "n.p."

This series includes drafts, edits, and correspondence between Richardson, her fellow editors, and the book's contributors over the ten years of work prior to the publication of Hands on the Freedom Plow: Personal Accounts by Women in SNCC (published in 2010 by University of Illinois Press). The materials have been arranged into three subseries: Drafts/Editing; Publication; and Correspondence.

Professional correspondence, note cards, research and teaching files, essays, offprints and reprints of articles by Jantz and scholars associated with him, and other printed material. Notable items are manuscripts about Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and his Faust, and manuscripts related to Francis Daniel Pastorius's Bee-Hive (Box 32 of 1994-0001, Top of OC:IV).

Arranged in Subject Files and Printed Material subseries. About one-half of the Subject Files consists of files, 1970-1982, on the New American Movement. This section consists primarily of typed correspondence and printed material, in equal amounts. Printed material includes drafts of published and unpublished articles, political statements, Discussion Bulletins, booklets, pamphlets and flyers. Also includes organizational records in the form of reports, resolutions, minutes, newsletters, meeting and discussion notes, announcements, agendas and convention packets. Other materials include several notebooks, loose notes, and training manuals. The remainder of the Subject Files consist mainly of a wide variety of printed material produced by left-wing political groups such as flyers, newsletters, typed copies of articles and speeches, fact sheets, booklets, pamphlets, reprints, conference information and reports. Correspondence, mostly to and from Boyte, is scattered throughout. Serials are filed in the folder of the producing organization if a folder exists.
