The Writings series contains articles, sermons, research files, and other written material generated by Creech throughout his career. The bulk of the series consists of drafts of his memoir Adam's Gift, originally entitled The Church on Trial, and materials related to its publication in 2011.

Essays and articles, notes, and data tables related astronomy; banking; immigration, population, and slavery; government; and medicine. Multiple bound items.

Contains a medical case book and a fragment of an essay or lecture written by Benjamin Rush, along with his travel diary for a trip to meet with the Board of Trustees for Dickinson College in 178[4]. Other materials include Julia Rush's devotional journal and exercise book, as well as an undated presentation note written by Richard Rush.

Divided into two subseries, Manuscripts and Volumes. Manuscript folders of this series (10 folders) contain handwritten copies of short stories and essays, manuscripts, burial services, sermons, speeches, reports, themes for pedagogical purposes, in rough chronological order ranging from 1816 to 1899, with two folders of undated materials. Volumes in the series (5 volumes in 4 folders) contain unattributed handwritten drafts and notes on fictional pieces, essays or texts, most likely written by Phebe. The author of the manuscript sermons is most probably Silas. There may be material in this series related to Silas' anti-slavery writings published in book form and in periodicals prior to the U.S. Civil War.

Manuscript stories and verse from unknown authors. A few are marked N.H.M. and at least one is marked BCL (Benjamin Charles Leech). Includes school papers and hand-written recipes.

Consists of manuscript drafts and revisions of Whitman's poetry and prose as well as proofs and published versions of his work from his early career in journalism up through the end of his life.
