The Administrative Files Series contains materials regarding the general origins, development, and oversight of the Mary Lou Williams Center, along with materials documenting its staffing. There are also subject files related to programming, especially at other black culture centers and in higher education in general. Among the materials are articles; plans; Board of Directors meeting minutes, agendas, and draft policies; event and exhibit flyers; black-and-white photographs; mailing and contact lists; correspondence, reports, and budgets; and reservations.

The Administrative Series comprises the organization's constitution and by-laws, minutes, and treasurer's reports. In addition, there are four books maintained by the secretary (1938-1980) that include minutes, as well as treasurer's reports, program booklets, lists of officers and members, attendance records, occasional clippings, and a color group photograph of several of the founding members. There are also copies of the constitution and by-laws along with other administrative information in later program booklets in the Programs Series.

Material related to the management of DDF's daily operations, including correspondence on donation requests and DDF business, contribution lists, meeting minutes, resolutions, amendments to bylaws, and building leases.

The Administrative series begins with correspondence. The Reading File is a collection of all the outgoing correspondence of the North American Office. Most of this correspondence is written by J. T. Spencer and Kenneth J. Turnbull, Executive Directors of OTS. Following the Reading Files is correspondence organized by the name of the sender. Much of this correspondence is from Jorge Campabadal of the Costa Rican Office. All of the correspondence is arranged in chronological order, with the latest materials in the front of the folders.

The Administrative Series documents the management, development, organizational history, and day to day operations of NCHR.

The Administrative series contains materials used by chapter leaders in their administration of Lambda Nu, including minutes, reports, correspondence, slides, and information on volunteer projects, membership, social activities, alumni, and the history of the chapter. Much of the material was originally housed in binders, and the original arrangement of papers has been retained. Folders are arranged chronologically.
