Stacy Kranitz is a documentary photographer and author based in Tennessee. Collection consists of 15 color inkjet prints and a 100-page handmade illustrated book fom a project titled Fulcrum of Malice, which documents the connections between conditions in African American neighborhoods and the siting and management of hazardous industries and waste sites around Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The photographs show African American families at home and in their neighborhoods, people in church and at meetings about the hazardous waste sites, biodegraded landscapes, and the industrial sites themselves. The book also includes text, maps, charts that narrate the community histories, government policies which led to the current situation, and the decades-long struggle for environmental and health justice for the inhabitants. Acquired as part of the Archive of Documentary Arts at Duke University.

Stanley C. Marshall (1919-2005) was an advertising executive and marketing consultant based in Pittsburgh, Pa., who served as President of Lando agency from 1952-1978; active as a lecturer, college professor, and humanitarian. The collection includes client files; speeches and presentations; publications; correspondence; advertising and civic awards; photographs; slides; audiovisual materials; films; and and other materials that document Marshall's career as a strategic marketing planner and consultant, as well as his involvement with humanitarian projects. The collection reflects Marshall's work for advertising and marketing firms, including Lando, Marsteller Advertising, and his own company, Stanley Marshall, Inc. Client files include 3M, Black Box, Delta Dental Plan, General Electric, International Management Center, PPG, Pure Industries (Stackpole), Scott Fetzer (Berkshire Hathaway), Sony, United Jewish Foundation, and Westinghouse. Also documented are Marshall's activities with public service and educational organizations that include UNICEF, the Conflict Resolution Center, the Negro Educational Emergency Drive (NEED, a project of the Urban League of Pittsburgh), the Network of International Business Schools (NIBS), and the Penn Technical Institute (a junior college, now part of the Pittsburgh Technical Institute). Stanley Hauerwas is a Duke Divinity School professor. Collection contains personal and professional materials documenting Hauerwas's career as an ethicist, professor, and scholar at the Duke University Divinity School and School of Law. Includes correspondence, lectures, professional engagement files, committee work, drafts, publications, and other assorted materials. Collection is closed pending processing.

Williams was a Professor of English at Yale University. The collection includes lecture notes, reprints, manuscripts and drafts.

Dearing was a Georgia military officer. The collection includes a daguerreotype and a deck of playing cards.

Collection comprises a manuscript volume (170 pages) written in several hands that was probably passed among the generations in the Stennett family; probably from Joseph Stennett to Samuel; there is a notation on p. 11 that the volume was passed from Samuel Stennett to E[lizabeth] Stennett, his daughter, in 1795. The volume contains religious materials, primarily hymns and poetry, including hymns by Samuel Stennett (beginning p. 53), along with some verse. A few pieces are in Latin, and many pieces are tied to Biblical verses. Corrections and additions to the text are common.

Stephanie Reinhart (1944-2002) began working at the American Dance Festival in 1977 as the Director of Planning and Development and became Co-Director with Charles L. Reinhart in 1993. While on the board Stephanie traveled to many countries to view dance and lecture on American modern dance and arts administration, and in 1993 she was awarded a Fulbright research grant to study modern dance in Argentina.

Stephanie Strickland is a poet and born-digital writer whose works range from paper to interactive websites. She also teaches and serves on the board of the Electronic Literature Organization. Her papers include journals and anthologies featuring Strickland's poetry; TechnoPoetry Festival materials; schoolwork, college, and graduate papers; posters and programs from events; proofs and drafts of her writings; and audio recordings.

Letter (ALS) reports the whereabouts and activities of Joseph Henry, his brother-in-law, and A.D. Bache and lists the "scientific men of London" with whom they were in contact, including Faraday, Wheatstone, Babbage, Barlow, Dr. Gregory and a Professor Powell of Oxford.

Stephen Cannada Harward served on the Durham City School Board for 12 years in the 1960s and 1970s. During this time, the Durham city and county school districts were desegregated following a series of court mandates beginning in 1963. The collection contains memos, bulletins, reports, evaluations, minutes, agendas, educational and administrative guides and handbooks, court documents, financial statements and budgets, correspondence, clippings, printed materials, and maps pertaining to the activity of the Durham City School Board. The papers span the years 1949-1975 and document the daily workings of the Durham City School Board chiefly between the years 1963 and 1975, with a special focus on the process of desegregation during that time. It contains no personal papers of Stephen C. Harward.

Stephen Harty is an advertising executive who began his career at Ogilvy & Mather and later became North American Chairman of Bartle Bogle Hegarty agency. Harty co-founded Merkley Newman Harty advertising agency (later renamed Merkley+Partners), part of the Omnicom Group. The Stephen Harty Papers cover the years 1992-2001, and contains primarily files relating to the founding of Merkley Newman Harty (MNH) advertising agency. Records consist of notes on strategic plans; annual meetings; agency founding; articles featuring MNH; promotional booklets; clippings; photographs and proofs of print advertiesements that chronicle the purpose, history, philosophy, and goals of MNH. Clients mentioned in materials include The American Stock Exchange, Bankers Trust, BellSouth, Casio (Kashio), Champion Sportswear (Hanes), Dime Bank, Forbes, General Electric, IBM, International Wool Secretariat, M&M/Mars, Oxford Health Plan, TDK, Time Life Medical, Volvic Natural Spring Water, and WordPerfect. Collection contains video recordings of performing arts events at Duke from 1987-2001. The performances are largely Hoof'n'Horn but also include performances from the Dept. of Theater Studies, namely Duke Players.

Sidney J. Stern was born in Wilson, NC in 1879 and married Flora Oettinger of Kinston, NC in 1910. The Sterns were active in civic affairs and religious life in Greensboro, where Sidney practiced law until his death in 1947. The materials in this collection primarily document Sidney J. Stern’s efforts to relocate family members and others living in Germany between 1936 and 1948 and to a lesser degree the Stern family’s life and activities in Greensboro, NC. Other materials in the collection include articles, newspaper clippings, and genealogical information on the Oettinger side of the family.

Steve Climons is a Black advertising executive and founder of Crossover Creative agency based in Elk Grove, Calif. Collection consists primarily of electronic records relating to Climons's career in brand management; graphic design; and public service advertising. Campaigns include anti-smoking; Oakland Calif. police public relations; Quik Stop; and Stop the Violence. Acquired as part of the John W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising & Marketing History.

Collection contains twenty-six 16x20 inch black-and-white matted digital prints used in Smith's book, THE WEATHER AND A PLACE TO LIVE: PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE SUBURBAN WEST, published by Duke University Press (2005). Subjects include tract housing in the West, construction sites, and other suburban landscapes that convey the impact of humans on the Western environment. His work received the First Book Prize for Photography by the Honickman Foundation and the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University. Collection also includes CD of artist talk given by Steven Smith at the 2005 exhibit opening, "Steven Smith: Photographs of the Suburban West." Acquired as part of the Archive of Documentary Arts at Duke University.

Steve Roden is an American sound and visual artist, and was the 2014 Barbaralee Diamonstein-Spielvogel Visiting Artist in Residency at the Rubenstein Library. His collection contains prints, video, and sound files created as a result of his residency.
