The Mathematics Department at Duke University has sponsored several special programs to train high school and college math teachers. Two of these programs were the Summer Institute in Science and Mathematics and the Retired Officer Program. The Summer Institute in Science and Mathematics, supported by the National Science Foundation, helped secondary school teachers upgrade their skills in the sciences and in math. The Summer Institute trained teachers from 1957-1970. The Retired Officer Program trained retired military personnel to teach mathematics in high school or at the introductory college level. It was also supported by the National Science Foundation and trained teachers from 1958-1967. The collection contains yearbooks, program records, course lists, photographs, government reports, and information about these special programs. English.

The Duke University History of Medicine Collections acquire, preserve, interpret, and make available for research and instruction, materials documenting the history of medicine, biomedical science, health and disease in the global context of the Western medical tradition. The collection was assembled by Duke Medical Center Library staff, and contains newspapers and other oversize print materials related to the history of medicine. The earliest date comes from a modern reproduction in black-and-white of an anatomical treatise from 1628. Newspaper issues from the 18th and 19th centuries carry advertisements related to physicians' services, medical practices, and medicinal products. Single sheets from the London Illustrated News concern the activities of Florence Nightingale during the Crimean War, 1855-1856, and are illustrated with large black-and-white engravings; one issue reproduces a piece of music with verses praising Nightingale. The items were acquired from various sources as part of the History of Medicine Collections at Duke University.

The Duke University Men's Glee Club, a social singing group of undergraduate men, was organized in 1927 by J. Foster "Bishop" Barnes, Director of Social and Religious Activities at Duke University. Contains materials pertaining to the Duke University Men's Glee Club from 1930-1969.

The Men's Student Government Association (MSGA) evolved from student councils in the early 1930s at Duke University's Trinity College. The MSGA was supplanted by the Associated Students of Duke University in 1968. In 1993, the Associated Students of Duke University became known as Student Government Association. Types of material include minutes, committee reports, correspondence, financial records, newsletters, election records (including records of the disputed 1952 election), constitutions, and resolutions. Materials range in date from 1925 to 1969.

The Methodist Student Center was constructed in 1957 to serve the spiritual and social life of the then 1,250 Methodist students attending Duke. The materials in the collection include two serials The Crusader and Methodist Student Movement, as well as, clippings, programs, brochures, reports and other printed material. The collection ranges in date from 1947-2000 with the bulk items dating 1954-1966.

Contains the records of Mirecourt House, an independent, co-educational, social, selective undergraduate residence hall at Duke University. Types of materials include constitutions, rosters, correspondence, photographs, applications, surveys, newsletters, schedules, reports, clippings, poster, and color slides. Major subjects include student life, Duke University history, Delta Tau Delta fraternity, residential living, alcohol use, and governance of residential halls. Materials date from 1975 to 2019.

The Duke University Museum of Art opened to the public in 1969, in a renovated science building on the University's East Campus. In 1998, Duke alumnus Raymond D. Nasher donated funds to support construction of a new art museum at Duke University, the Nasher Museum of Art, set to open in 2005. Collection includes correspondence, administrative files, financial records, exhibit catalogs and publicity material, fund-raising files, clippings, photographs, and related records. Major subjects include the opening of the Museum of Art, the Brummer Collection of Medieval and Renaissance Art, and exhibits. Materials range in date from 1962 to 2002. English.

This collection contains press releases, clipping files, and National Press Exposure Reports created by the Duke University News Service. Major subjects include Duke University News Service, press releases, public relations, clippings, and mass media.

The Duke News Service informs the public and the university community about research, programs, and events at Duke. The collection consists of biographical files of Duke University faculty, staff, alumni, and others compiled by the News Service, as well as some photographic materials in separate folders. The files contain primarily clippings and also curricula vitae, photographs, and other printed materials. English.

In 1938, the School of Forestry at Duke was founded as the first graduate school of forestry in the South. In the 1970s, the school expanded its program to include a broad range of resource and environmental studies. In 1974/75, it became the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Collection contains memoranda, brochures, newspaper clippings, conference materials, annual reports, photographs and slides relating to the Duke School of Forestry and Environmental Studies from roughly 1960 through 1979.

The Equal Opportunity Office was created in 1972 by Chancellor John S. Blackburn to ensure University compliance with equal opportunity and affirmative action legislation. Collection contains material pertaining to the Office for Institutional Equity including Duke University's Affirmative Action plans, and promotional material as well as planning and committee material for the annual Martin Luther King Day Commemoration. Materials in the collection range in date from 1962-ongoing.

The Duke Ambassadors were an independent, student run, thirteen piece dance band founded by Sonny Burke '37 that was a staple of the Duke University social scene for thirty years. This collection is one compiled artificially by the Office of Alumni Affairs and contains material pertaining to the music and the origination of the Duke Ambassadors including one folder of background information and four CDs. Materials in the collection date from 1947-2004, bulk 1947-1957.

The Office of Alumni Affairs at Duke University administers the Duke Alumni Association (DAA), a nonprofit organization serving over 120,000 alumni and former students of Duke University, in addition to thousands of parents and friends of the university. Records contain class files, administrative materials, fundraising materials, alumni publications records, subject files, photographs, video and sound recordings, and an index to Duke students who served in World War II. Materials include reunion information, correspondence, reports, programs, clippings, and printed matter.

Duke Magazine is the Duke-focused alumni magazine of Duke University. Robert Bliwise is the founding editor, with the magazine since 1983. The collection includes his files related to Presidents of the University, magazine policies and feedback, and the history of the publication.

The Office of Black Church Studies (initially the Office of Black Church Affairs) was created as an initiative of the Duke Divinity School in 1972 to support African American students and faculty. The collection consists of materials related to African American churches, civil rights, and the status of African American students and faculty in universities across the country. Materials related to Martin Luther King, Jr.; Benjamin Chavis; Gardner C. Taylor; and Prathia Hall Wynn are included. The collection also contains manuscripts, black-and-white and color photographs, digital images, and electronic records contained on compact discs.

Contains the records of the Office of Career Development and Continuing Education at Duke University, established in 1972 to assist undergraduates and non-degree students in preparing for careers. The Office worked closely with the Placement Services Office, the Counseling Center, and the academic deans of Trinity College of Arts and Sciences. Also contains the records of the Directions for Educated Women Committee (formerly known as the Educated WomanPower Committee), established in 1966. The student and faculty Directions for Educated Women Committee organized programs to introduce career options and role models of successful career women to female undergraduates. Types of materials include correspondence, course evaluations, brochures, newsletters, clippings, reports, handbooks, fliers, and short writings. Major subjects include Duke University, career guidance, Office of Continuing Education, Office of Career Development and Continuing Education, community service, internships, and women college students. The Office of Climate and Sustainability began as Sustainable Duke in 2004. The office was established to educate and promote engagement with sustainability and climate efforts, connect departments and students under a shared goal for climate solutions, and advance the Duke Climate Commitment. This collection contains Duke Kunshan University's Sustainability Scrapbook.

Contains the records of the Office of Continuing Studies, established in 1969 as the Office of Continuing Education at Duke University. The Office provides year-round training, short courses, certificate programs, and credit courses for students and non-students wishing to further their education or prepare for standardized tests. In 1992, the Office of Continuing Education merged with the Summer Session office to create the Office of Continuing Education and Summer Session. Types of materials include student records, subject files, correspondence, progress reports, program proposals, newsletters, annual reports, minutes, flyers, pamphlets, clippings, grant applications, directories, and course schedules.
