Breyers Ice Cream Company was founded in 1866 in Philadelphia, Penna.; incorporated in 1908. Became division of National Dairy Products Corporation in 1926. Collection comprises a Bryers Ice Cream salesman's catalog (12 pgs.), for the company's ice cream advertising signs, especially those to be placed outside a store or restaurant. The catalog was probably intended for the company's regional distributors, and includes statistics for ice cream sales in the Philadelphia market. Sign descriptions include a color copy of each sign, along with it's size, finish, weight, and illumination, as well as occasional other information, including such considerations as brackets, embossing, packing units, and store type.

John E. Browning (1915-2000) was a commercial artist, designer, and naval architect who worked in the outdoor advertising and maritime industries in New Jersey. This collection spans the years 1930-1999 and includes billboard designs, photographs and digitized negatives, sketches, correspondence, and printed materials relating to commercial art and typography. Doris Bryn (née Krehnbrink) was a prominent fashion and cover model during the 1940s-1960s and co-designer of several lines of fashion accessories with her husband Roger Vsn Schoyck under the brand names Roger Van S. and Mr. R. The Doris Bryn Papers span the years 1939-1998 and includes correspondence, clippings, print advertisements, photographs, design sketches and garment labels that document Bryn's career as a professional cover and fashion model (for Conover, John Powers and Eileen Ford agencies) and as a designer of dresses, shoes, leather goods, jewelry and other fashion accessories under the lines Roger Van S. and Mr. R among others. Bank founded in Barcelona in 1926 as Caja de Ahorros Provincial de la Diputacion de Barcelona and renamed Caixa d'Estalvis de Catalunya in the 1970s. Collection consists of a scrapbook of 39 reproductions of a poster campaign for the bank. Some posters are identified by theme, such as "Peace" or "Today and Tomorrow". Manufacturer of private aircraft founded in 1911 in Wichita, Kan., Collection comprises handouts of the aircraft sales training presentation that used an analogy to a football game to organize the information. Includes pages for the attendee's notes, as well as charts, graphs, financial information, and quizzes. Divided into sections: prospecting, consultant, interviewing, salesmanship, proposals, demonstrating, and scoring.

The Coca-Cola Company was founded in Atlanta in 1886 by John Pemberton. The Star Salesman Kit was part of a program developed to train Coca-Cola salesmen. The Coca-Cola Company Star Salesman Kit dates from 1949-1951 and consists of numbered training lessons, memorabilia buttons, 35mm filmstrips and accompanying phonograph records, which together comprise a training program for Coca-Cola sales employees. Topics covered include increasing sales, product placement, stock magazines, coolers and vending machines, and selling to women. Acquired as a part of the John W. Copy writer and advertising executive for several agencies primarily in the Atlanta, Ga. area. The Adrienne Cohen Papers span the years 1963-2000 and include print advertisements, copy designs, direct marketing mailings and brochures, storyboards, audiotapes, 16mm and 35mm films of radio and television commercials that document Cohen's work as an advertising copy writer and creative executive. Companies represented include Marschalk, Young & Rubicam, and McCann-Erickson. Clients include Coca-Cola, Drackett, Eastern Airways, Gulf Oil, and Texize. Acquired as part of the John W. Julia Comfort (1889-1983) was an actress and model who appeared in a variety of print advertisements and publication illustrations during the 1920s. Collection includes black-and-white photographs and print advertisements that document Comfort's career in advertising photography. Products include apparel, automobiles, cleaning products, cosmetics, eyeglass lenses, Green Stamps, hygiene products, life insurance, mouthwash, paper, and thread. Companies represented in the collection include Bauer & Black; Clark's; J & P Coats; Johnson & Johnson; Lambert Pharmacal (later Warner-Lambert), Lever Brothers; Metropolitan Life; Norwich Pharmacal; and Sperry and Hutchinson. Consumer Reports is a product testing and consumer advocacy nonprofit organization based in Yonkers, N.Y., founded in 1936 as Consumers Union. The Technical Department was responsible for the creation of testing procedures and methods; performance of product tests; and production of test data and written evaluations for use in Consumer Reports periodicals and buying guides. The collection includes correspondence; photographs of products and product testing; research data and test results; testing procedures and methods documentation; and technical reference report files. Notations on some of the original containers indicate that the collection contains selected files and thus represents a sampling rather than a comprehensive record of Technical Department activities. Consumer Reports is a product testing and consumer advocacy nonprofit organization based in Yonkers, N.Y., founded in 1936. Sidney Shainwald was a accountant who served as Comptroller and later Associate Director of Consumers Union. Collection includes departmental correspondence and memoranda; audits and other financial reports; budget proposals and operating cost estimates; payroll forecasts and reports; publication planning, distribution and promotional campaigns; policy statements and other printed materials. It also includes materials relating to Consumers Union support of the Media and Consumer Foundation's eponymous newsletter. Acquired as part of the John W. Dade Media Inc. is a marketing and advertising agency based in Delray Beach, Florida. The collection includes promotional materials; trade literature; outdoor awards publications; slides and photographs of billboards and mall advertisements; audio cassettes; and other materials relating to outdoor advertising. Companies represented include 3M National, AK Media, Atomic Props and Effects, Eller Media Company, Foster and Kleiser, Honda, Institute of Outdoor Advertising (IOA), Metromedia Technologies (MMT), Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA), Outdoor Advertising Magazine, TDI, Titan Outdoor, and Young and Rubicam (Y&R). The Dayton Company, founded in 1902 in Minneapolis, Minn., was the predecessor firm to the Target Corporation, one of the largest retail chains in the United States. The Dayton Company Advertising Scrapbooks collection spans the years 1904 through 1968 and consist of 509 bound scrapbooks of newspaper advertisements, fliers and circulars for the Dayton department store chain in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn. and Rochester, N.Y., as well for several of Dayton's competitors, affiliates and subsidiary department and discount stores, including B. Dalton Bookseller, the J.B. Hudson and L.S. Donaldson stores.

Dimmick was a homemaker in Jefferson, Massachusetts. Scrapbook featuring clippings, recipes, check stubs, letters, telegrams, and other material documenting Dimmick's winnings in recipe and music trivia contests.

David W. Dole (1914-2016) was a genealogist and former broadcasting and advertising executive who created the Industry Standard Commercial Identification (ISCI) system for classifying television commercials. The David W. Dole ISCI records document the creation and management of the ISCI system and includes press releases, correspondence, pamphlets, clippings, articles, published registers, and technical documents that pertain to the proposal, design and implementation of the ISCI system. Materials also reflect the involvement of the Association of National Advertisers (ANA) and the American Association of Advertising Agencies (AAAA) and their purchase of the ISCI system from Dole in the 1992, and the eventual replacement of ISCI with a new system, Ad-ID. Collection also includes materials relating to Dole's career with the Leo Burnett advertising agency; plus information on IDC Services (formerly International Digisonics); the Institute on Religion and Democracy; Television Program Service; and the V-Chip Education Project. Bromo-Seltzer was an analgesic patented by Isaac Emerson of Baltimore, Md. in 1888. Booklet was part of World War II-era cooperation with the War Advertising Council and depicts the insignia and some history of U.S. military awards and decoration. Booklet also promotes War Bonds (precursor to Savings Bonds) on back cover as well as advertising Bromo-Seltzer. Acquired as part of the John W. Wright H. Bill Everett (1925-2010) was a media space salesman for several major magazines, and the founder of his own businesses, Flix and the W.H. Everett Co., that specialized in a variety of print materials combining humorous captions with still images from silent movies. The Wright H. Everett Papers span the years 1853-1998 and include correspondence, photographs and negatives, 8mm and 16mm films and audiotapes, print advertisements, layouts, presentations, research reports, pamphlets and brochures that document Everett's career selling advertising space in national magazines as well as his own businesses, Flix and the W.H. Everett Co. Magazines represented in the collection include Advertising Age, American Home, Flying, Progressive Grocer, Reader's Digest, Reminisce, Suburbia Today, Time, Western Advertising and Woman's Home Companion. Other companies represented include American Greeting Cards, Hunter Snead, Lennen-Newell, Maclean Hunter Media and Remington Advertising. Carlton "Butch" Foust was an advertising executive who worked for J. Walter Thompson, Benton & Bowles, McCann-Erickson and other agencies, often in Latin America and Spain. Collection contains advertising and market research files, client files, brochures, tear sheets, annual reports, case histories, videocassettes, and other files documenting Foust's career as an advertising executive primarily in Latin America and Spain. Materials chiefly relate to Foust's work on behalf of clients such as Kraft Foods, Kellogg, Proctor & Gamble, Coca-Cola, and Unilever, as well as numerous alcoholic beverage companies.
