Trinity Park School was established in 1898, under headmaster J.F. Bivins, to better prepare students for admission at Trinity College and other institutions. The school operated on the campus of Trinity College until 1922, when it was permanently closed. The Trinity Park School Collection includes bound volumes, print materials, the papers of headmaster F.S. Aldridge, photographs, and financial information. Annual Trinity Park School catalogs have been removed and cataloged separately.

The Trinity College Theological Society was founded in 1870 and was the precursor to the Divinity School. This collection contains minutes, member lists, and constitution of the Trinity College Theological Society. The material ranges in date from 1870-1893.

In 1892, Dr. Stephen B. Weeks, a professor of history at Trinity College, organized the Trinity College Historical Society. The goals of the Society were to collect, arrange, and preserve written materials and artifacts illustrative of the history of North Carolina and the South, and to promote the study of Southern history through lectures and publications. The Society benefited from the strong leadership of two history professors, John Spencer Bassett and William Kenneth Boyd. They made wide appeals for donations of historical materials and maintained a museum to house these relics. The meetings of the Society, held several times each year, provided a forum at which students and faculty could read their research papers and discuss their ideas. The best of these papers were published, from 1897 to 1956, in the Historical Papers of the Trinity College Historical Society. The collection includes historical notes about Trinity College and the Society, correspondence, meeting announcements, administrative files, publications, speeches, and artifacts. Materials range in date from [1492?] to 1981. English.

The Parthenon Club was an organization for female students and faculty of Trinity College. The club was active from 1916 until 1924. The club promoted interest in the language, literature, and art of ancient Greek and Roman cultures, especially the work of women. Materials include one bound volume containing minutes, constitutions, and financial records. Major subjects include women at Trinity College, Trinity College history, student groups, study of classical languages, appreciation of classical literature, and women in classical literature.

In the early years of Trinity College, the President handled most financial affairs with assistance and guidance from the Board of Trustees. When the College moved to Durham in 1892, one of the trustees, Durham businessman Virginius Ballard, filled the post of College Treasurer and served until 1898. President John C. Kilgo took over the task until 1907. At that point, it appears that an office of Treasurer was formally established, as Dallas W. Newsom is listed in the Catalog as Treasurer. The collection includes ledgers and ledger sheets, cash books, journals, insurance policies, bonds, titles, leases, building and service contracts, correspondence, reports and other records, with bulk dates of 1910-1924. Records from 1891 concerning the Durham campus and buildings are also included.

In 1887 the Trinity College Library was created when two rival literary societies combined their book collections and added them to the few books already owned by the school. Records kept by the librarians and staff of the Trinity College Library documenting its operations. Included are records of accessions, book orders, circulation, periodicals, and reference books. The records also contain a short history of the Library by Joseph Penn Breedlove as well as the brochure for the opening of the new library building in 1903.

The Duke University Board of Trustees has existed since 1924, and grew out of the Trinity College Board of Trustees that existed from 1859 to 1924. The Board is responsible for making major steering decisions in the administration of the school. The Board of Trustees records contain minutes, agendas, correspondence, reports, subject files, trustee handbooks, and other records of the Board and Executive, standing, and ad hoc committees. The minutes include reports, correspondence, resolutions, recommendations for the conferring of degrees, for employment and renewal of employment, and other material. Reports include those made by University officers, Board committees, and outside consultants. The Board's records also include statements of funds and scholarships, investment reports, correspondence, audits, bylaws, petitions from students, and other material. English.

The Trinity College (Durham, N.C.) Athletic Association was responsible for organizing athletic events, such as baseball and basketball games. The collection includes correspondence and contracts and ranges in date from 1912-1937.

Duke University has had a baseball team since 1889, when the first team was established at its predecessor, Trinity College (Randolph County, N.C.). The collection includes the scorebook of the Trinity College (Durham, N.C.) baseball team from the 1924 season as well as a few pieces of correspondence. The collection dates from the years 1924 and 1966.

The Columbian Literary Society was founded in 1846. The Hesperian Literary Society was founded in 1851. Records of both the Columbian Literary Society and Hesperian Literary Society documenting their activities. Included are numerous minute books, roll books, treasurer's books, book lists, constitutions and bylaws as well as some correspondence and programs for events co-hosted by the societies.

The Tom Triman Films are comprised of 132 super 8mm reels and one VHS videocassette, containing the productions of horror movie fan/historian/critic Tom Triman (1952-2010).

Eugene and Margaret Triman both served in the United States military during World War II; Eugene was a sailor and was stationed on submarines, and Margaret was a member of the Women's Army Corps. The majority of this collection consists of Eugene's letters to Margaret while the couple was dating and engaged to marry. There are also five photographs of their wedding day, in April 1946, as well as some newspaper clippings about Margaret's WAC service and two booklets on birth control.

The Triangle Universities Nuclear Laboratory (TUNL) is a collaborative laboratory operated on the campus of Duke University. The Triangle Universities Nuclear Laboratory records include progress reports and archived websites.

The Triangle Universities Computation Center (TUCC) was incorporated in 1965 as a cooperative venture between Duke University, North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with the goal of providing main-frame computing services, such as electronic data and batch processing, to the universities, RTI International and others. It dissolved in 1990 due to financial difficulties, the increased use of personal computers, and disagreements among the partners. Materials in the collection include administrative records, correspondence, meeting minutes, financial and statistical reports, memoranda, proposals, newsletters, photographs, slides, a scrapbook, and other materials from the Triangle Universities Computation Center.

Raging Grannies is an activist organization that promotes peace, justice and social and economic equality by raising consciousness through song and satire. They also aim to challenge stereotypical assumptions about advocacy and aging. This collection contains materials documenting the Triangle chapter of the Raging Grannies in North Carolina from 1998-2015.

Triangle Community Works! was formed in 1994 and consists of a coalition of groups, including ASPYN (A Safer Place Youth Network), The Gay and Lesbian Helpline, P-FLAG (Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays), and RRNGLE (Raleigh Religious Network for Gay and Lesbian Equality). Collection includes historical documents from several groups in Triangle Community Works!, including ASPYN, RRNGLE, and the Gay and Lesbian Helpline. Materials date from the 1970s to 2008.

According to the Triangle Business and Professional Guild bylaws, the TBPG aims to establish a network of business and professional resources, to encourage fellowship and support among businesses, professionals, and charitable pursuits, and to provide and promote positive role models in the gay and lesbian community, particularly in the Triangle (Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and Durham) area of North Carolina. This organization was founded in the early 1990s and is based in Raleigh. Accession (2008-0168) (900 items; 1.5 lin. ft.; dated 1970-2006) includes TBPG newsletters from 1993-2006, news clippings highlighting the lesbian and gay communities, and some administrative material. Acquired as part of the Sallie Bingham Center for Women's History and Culture.

Jack Lawrence Treynor (1930-2016) was President of Treynor Capital Management. This collection primarily documents his professional life through his correspondence, writings, professional activities, research, and teaching. It was acquired as part of the Economists' Papers Archive.

Josiah Charles Trent (1914-1948) was an American thoracic surgeon and rare book and manuscript collector. This collection primarily documents his medical education and training apart from his career at Duke University Hospital, as well his collecting activities, through his coursework, subject files, and writings. It was acquired as part of the History of Medicine Collections.

Josiah and Mary Duke Biddle Trent collected and donated the Trent Collection, including these materials on U.S. president Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Assorted printed materials about FDR, including his stamp collecting and obituary material; autographed portraits; and 2 signed letters from FDR dating from 1932 and 1933.

The collection comprises 35 trans-inclusive zines gathered and distributed by the Transgender Oral History Project beginning in 2012, along with an informational folder for the project. The zines date from 1992-2013 or are undated. The majority feature single-issues, in only a few instances are there duplicate copies of an issue. Topics include the politics of patriarchy, sexuality, being queer; gender issues; developmental issues for adolescents and youths identifying as queer or trans; transitioning; instruction for children and allies, including use of pronouns; and the history of the Transgender Oral History Project.

William and James Trahern were merchants in Brunswick (Brunswick Co.), Virginia. Merchants' accounts, including daybooks, 1803-1806, and a record of cotton storage, 1825-1827, of William Trahern; and daybooks, 1806-1822, and an index of James Trahern.

The Traffic Audit Bureau for Media Measurement Inc. (TAB) is a nonprofit organization focused on out-of-home media circulation research, founded in 1933. TAB rebranded as Geopath in 2016 and is headquartered in New York. The collection includes annual reports; financial data; instructional manuals; meeting records; newsletters; traffic survey and statistical research reports; and other printed materials that document ongoing developments and changing priorities at TAB especially for the years 1983-1996. Topics addressed include business relationships with plant operators; construction standards; education and training; outdoor poster design and visibility standards; public relations and outreach; research and reporting methodology; strategic planning and institutional reorganization. Individuals and organizations represented include A.C. Nielsen, Ad Council, American Association of Advertising Agencies, Anna Fountas, Association of National Advertisers, Byron Chandler, John Miller, Ken Sammon, Larry Hennessy, Market Information Services of America, Outdoor Advertising Association of America, and Wilbur Smith and Associates. Posters and some brochures and pamphlets acquired by Bill Tracy during his time at the American University of Beirut. The majority of the collection consists of political posters from Palestine and tourism posters from Lebanon. Also included are some travel brochures and pamphlets about various sites in Jordan, Syria, Yemen, Egypt, and Lebanon. Materials largely date from the 1960s to the 1970s.

Eckard Toy was an American history professor and scholar who studied the history of race, the Ku Klux Klan, and neo-Nazis in the United States, particularly in the Pacific Northwest. Collection includes Toy's research files and related materials on various extremist groups in the United States, particularly right-wing Christian extremists, the Ku Klux Klan, and Holocaust revisionists. Files are arranged by group or topic and at times include Toy's correspondence with various representatives. Notable groups include the Church of Jesus Christ Christian, various factions of the Ku Klux Klan, the German American National Political Action Committee (GANPAC), the Institute for Historical Review, and Christian Biblical America. Collection also contains Toy's research on Francis Yockey and Gordon Kahl. Materials from the IHR include two VHS tapes and one audiocassette on Holocaust revisionism.

Consists of genealogical information, correspondence, photographs, diaries, notebooks, and a manuscript autobiography relating to the large Townsend family of Felchville, Vermont.

Cuban people emigrated to the United States as refugees in 1980 during the Mariel Boatlift. A small percentage of them were imprisoned in the U.S. on felony charges, which are cause for deportation under immigration law. After a 1987 prison riot where Cuban detainees protested deportation, the migrants were granted an indefinite moratorium on deportation and a fair review of their case. A decade later many were still in federal detention centers awaiting review of their case, and they often wrote to Amnesty International for help. Collection consists largely of unsolicited correspondence from Cuban migrants written to Sarah Town while she interned with Amnesty International's Refugee Office. Acquired as part of the Human Rights Archive at Duke University.

The Town and Campus Club is an woman's organization in Durham, North Carolina. It was founded in 1938 with the purpose "to follow the literary interests of the members and to promote friendship and social activity." The records of the Town and Campus Club primarily feature administrative and program records for the organization, including the constitution and by-laws, minutes, and treasurer's reports, as well other occasional records maintained by the secretary, along with program booklets, club histories, and member biographies and sketches. In addition, there is correspondence as well as color photographs, including two group photographs.

Administrative entity in France. Eighteenth century analysis of Tours-Anjou, Maine, and Touraine, France, containing a description of each province in the Généralité of Tours-Anjou, Maine, and Touraine; an estimation of the population; lists of various church dioceses and monasteries, and estimated revenues; lists of military posts; lists of noblemen and their property; an inventory of the royal domain; descriptions of the vineyards, farms, and cities under the Généralité's jurisdiction, including the wines and crops produced, and silk and textile manufacturers; prices for grains, livestock, and bread in the principal cities; outlines of the nature of the various taxes; complaints concerning the inequality and abuses of the tax system, and a plea for relief; and three maps showing the boundaries of the Généralité, its subdivisions, and the rivers, roads, and post stations along royal highways.

ALS. Papers consist mostly of letters written to Torrey by professional colleagues, botanists and geologists involved in exploration and surveyor expeditions. Notable correspondents include Louis Agassiz, A.D. Bache, Spencer Fullerton Baird, George Bentham, Jacob Bigelow, James Dwight Dana, William Darlington, Amos Eaton, Ebenezer Emmons, Asa Gray, A. Guyot, Robert Hare, Joseph Henry, Edward Hitchcock, John Lindley, Josiah Clark Nott, C.S. Rafinesque, and John White Webster. A complete list of correspondents is available.

James Patrick Toomey graduated from Duke with a degree in Engineering in 1983. The collection contains approximately 100 cartoons created by Toomey for publication in the student newspaper, The Chronicle. The cartoons range in date from 1981-1983.

Engineer, author, and entrepreneur, of Charlotte (Mecklenburg Co.), N.C. Collection contains letters and papers relating to Tompkins' work in the Pennsylvania steel industry, specifically with the Bethlehem Iron Works, his career as an industrial engineer in North Carolina with the Westinghouse Machine Company, his personal life, his activities as co-owner of the Charlotte Observer and his disputes with the editor, J. C. Hemphill, his patents and inventions, his business activities and involvement with the textile, brick, and other industries, and the settlement of his estate. Includes ledgers and a stockholders' minute book of the D. A. Tompkins Company.

Tomlinson Store was a steam tanning works, shoemaking establishment and general store run by Allen U. Tomlinson in Randolph County, NC. Ledger B contains accounts of the Methodist and Quaker families that formed Union Institute as well as Brantley York and school faculty.

William E. Tolbert was a Union soldier and businessman of Chambersburg, Pa. Collection includes correspondence and business, personal, and legal papers of Tolbert and several members of the Tolbert (Talbot) and Huber families of Chambersburg, Pa., containing information about family affairs, Republican Party affairs in Chambersburg, and William E. Tolbert's activities with the Chief Engineer's Office of the U.S. Military Railroad in the Division of the Mississippi. There are a number of letters (1883-1922) to Emma Tolbert from her friend Elizabeth Russell, who was a Methodist missionary in Nagasaki, Japan.

C. Dayton Bud Titsworth was an executive at Lord, Geller, Federico, Einstein, a subsidiary of the J. Walter Thompson Company (JWT) advertising agency, in the 1970s and 1980s, before starting his own agency. The Bud Titsworth Commercials collection span the years 1968-1991 and consist of audio tapes, videocassettes and 16mm films of radio spots and television commercials on which Titsworth worked. Clients represented include Canada Dry, IBM, STP and Warner-Lambert. Announcers for radio spots include sportscaster Howard Cosell. Acquired as part of the John W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising & Marketing History.

Alfred Paul Tischendorf came to Duke in 1955 and served as Assistant Professor in the Department of History. His publications include "The Anglo-Mexican Claims Commission, 1884-1895," "The Loss of British Commercial Pre-eminence in Mexico, 1876-1911," and "British Experience in Georgia, 1865-1907." He died in Argentina while on sabbatical in 1962. Contains correspondence, research-related material, and miscellaneous material. There are a few pamphlets in the miscellaneous folder. The collection also contains a restricted folder which contains privacy-protected information. The material ranges in date from 1953-1961.

Dr. Edward Tiryakian taught in the Department of Sociology from 1965 until his retirement in 2004. He served as Chair of the Department in addition to positions as Visiting Professor abroad. He was appointed Director for the Center of International Studies in 1988 and served until 1991. The collection contains correspondence and materials related to the Dept. of Sociology, and the Center for International Studies as well as memoranda, clippings and correspondence regarding general University business but also the Nixon Presidential Library controversy and the Allen Building Takeover.

U.S. representative from Mass. Chiefly clippings and press releases relating to the life of George Holden Tinkham, a lawyer, Republican senator, and big game hunter from Boston, Mass. Tinkham's political career is well represented by the clippings and press releases (1919-1942), which show his position on foreign and domestic affairs, and detail his opposition to the prohibitionists.

News magazine first published in 1923 in New York, N.Y. Mailing sent to college representatives promoting Time magazine. Includes sample package of Lucky Strike cigarettes (American Tobacco Company) as an example of student preferences; text of letter cites readership statistics for the magazine. Acquired as part of the John W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising & Marketing History.

Robert Cowin served as Circulation Director of Sports Illustrated, later Editor of Golf Magazine. Time Life Alumni Society certificate to Robert Cowin includes a Certificate of Historical Authenticity documenting the veracity of two memos copied from the Time Inc. Archives. One memo dated November 1950 from Cowin to Editor in Chief Daniel Longwell outlines Cowin's ideas for a new magazine that would become Sports Illustrated. The other memo, dated October 1969 from Garry Valk to Sports Illustrated staff, notes the departure of Cowin from Sports Illustrated and summarizes Cowin's role in the creation of the magazine. Acquired as part of the John W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising & Marketing History.

Family from North Carolina, Virginia, and Massachusetts. Family and business letters, personal journals, deeds, legal items, and papers (chiefly 1830-1911) of William Norwood Tillinghast (b. 1831), merchant of Fayetteville, N.C.; William A. Norwood (d. ca. 1866), judge of Hillsboro, N.C.; and of the Tillinghast and Norwood families of Massachusetts, Virginia, and North Carolina. Contains information about the mercantile activities of the Tillinghast family; social life and customs in North Carolina before 1900; business and economic conditions in the South before, during, and after the Civil War; agriculture in the South Atlantic States before 1860; the secession of North Carolina; living conditions during the Civil War and Reconstruction; events of the war in North Carolina; the South during the late 19th century; and camp life during the Spanish American War. Correspondents include Kemp P. Battle and Henry Clay Robinson.

Nannie Mae Tilley (1898-1988) was a historian and curator of the Manuscripts Deptartment of Duke University. The Nannie Mae Tilley papers contain correspondence and other materials collected by Tilley concerning servicemen in World War II, the Bonsack family of Virginia, and tobacco cultivation and manufacturing in Virginia. The large group of letters from U.S. servicemen reveals attitudes about military service, U.S. participation in World War II, and about Duke University, where many of them had been students. Another group of letters is from the John E. Bonsack family, and concerns the Bonsack family genealogy, particularly James E. Bonsack, inventor of cigarette rolling machine, and Jacob Bonsack, grandfather of John E. Bonsack, who owned a woolen mill at Good Intent, Virginia. Further materials, chiefly photostats of reports from Richmond, Virginia, printed in the New York Journal of Commerce, concern the production and marketing of tobacco in Virginia and methods of handling leaf tobacco. Also included is James A. Bonsack's obituary from 1924.

Papers concerned with Tilghman's law practice in Chestertown, Md., and his service in the Maryland legislature (1788-1793). Includes genealogical information about Maryland's Eastern Shore, information about economic and agricultural conditions in Maryland in the late 18th century, Tilghman's vicissitudes because of his Loyalist sympathies during the Revolution, his efforts to advance the interests of his constituents while he served in the legislature, and the Tilghman family. Volumes include a digest of legal cases in which Tilghman participated, legal notes, court dockets, and a summary of estate laws in Maryland. Includes three letters from Henry Pearce. Two of these letters are to James Tilghman, William's father, regarding the purchase of Pearce land, slaves, stock, etc.

Patent granted to Tiemann for a surgical instrument called the scarificator. Consists of a form statement, signed by President Andrew Jackson; three drawings of the instrument; and specifications regarding the instrument, written and signed by Tiemann. Patent issued in 1834 and renewed in 1846.
