Founded in 1864, the J. Walter Thompson Company (JWT) is one of the oldest and largest enduring advertising agencies in the United States. It is headquartered in New York. In 2018 JWT merged with Wunderman to form Wunderman Thompson. The London Office first opened in 1899. Collection includes case studies; clippings; radio and television commercial scripts and production notes; correspondence; planning and strategy meeting materials; research reports and survey data; photographs and other printed materials. Client companies include Canary Wharf, De Beers, Electricity Council, Esso, Gallaher, Guinness, H.P. Biographical / historical:

Founded in 1864, the J. Walter Thompson Company (JWT) is one of the oldest and largest enduring advertising agencies in the United States. It is headquartered in New York. In 2018 JWT merged with Wunderman to form Wunderman Thompson.

The London Office first opened as a European Sales Office in 1899, which closed in 1916 due to the war. The office reopened in 1919; it moved into a new headquarters at Bush House in 1924. After the end of World War II, the agency relocated to Berkeley Square.

The J. Walter Thompson Company. London Office. Account files were received by the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book Manuscript Library as a gift from the J. Walter Thompson Company London Office in 2008.
