The collection contains examples of propaganda and other nationalistically-motivated publications distributed during World War II. It includes pro-Allied, anti-Allied, pro-Axis, and anti-Axis propaganda leaflets and broadsides that were distributed in Europe and the Pacific war zones with the aim of damaging enemy morale and sustaining the morale of the occupied countries. Also includes a set of Special Service I.B.S. posters warning soldiers against venereal disease.

The Robert A. Hill Collection covers the period of 1800 to 2014 and documents Hill's research, writing, and publications about Marcus Garvey's life and work and the founding of the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA), as well as Hill's many other projects. Items in the collection include research material assembled by Hill, writings by and about Garvey, manuscripts, correspondence, printed material, clippings, microfilm, photographs, video and sound recordings, and objects. Series 1-4 contain the production papers of the Marcus Garvey Papers Project: American Volumes (AM), African Volumes (AF), Caribbean Volumes (CA), and Project Administration (PA). Hill's other projects and writings are included in Series 5-6 as Other Works by Robert A. Hill (OW) and Hill Personal (HP). The remaining Series 7-10 consists of Microfilm (MF), Primary Sources (PS), Research (RE), and the unprocessed Jamaica (J). The collection was acquired by the John Hope Franklin Research Center in 2015.

Founded in 1864, the J. Walter Thompson Company (JWT) is one of the oldest and largest enduring advertising agencies in the United States. It is headquartered in New York. Denis Lanigan was an executive who managed JWT Offices in Frankfurt, London and New York before being named Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer. Collection includes correspondence and memoranda, policy manuals and reports, account files and research reports that document Lanigan's career in JWT offices in Frankfurt and New York. Companies represented include Chevron, Kellogg, Kodak, Kraft, Nestle, Pepsi, R.J. Reynolds and Unilever. Acquired as part of the John. W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising & Marketing History.

David Price is a political science professor at Duke University, and Democratic congressman from North Carolina's Fourth District since 1987 (re-elected in 2006). The David Price Papers (1960-2006) document the scholarly and political career of David Eugene Price, including his days as a graduate student in the 1960s, his tenure as a political science professor and Democratic Party staff member, and, finally, his years as a Democratic congressman from North Carolina's Fourth District. Records from Price's political headquarters contain thousands of original documents, handwritten and computer-generated; printed materials such as legislative bills and campaign publicity; and a variety of audiovisual materials, including photographs, some slides, many videos, and audio recordings. The collection is especially rich for researchers interested in the American political party system, the work and life of legislators, North Carolina history and government, the North Carolina Democratic and Republican parties, the U.S. Congress, its committee structure, the Hunt Commission, and the broader legislative process. Other materials document political campaigns, notably David Price's own congressional campaigns and Albert Gore's senatorial campaign of 1970-1971.

Benjamin Sussman (1921-2003) was an advertising executive and founder of the Sussman, Jordan and Pollacheck advertising agency. He also worked for Petersen Publishing and as a freelance writer. Accession (2009-0238) consists of Sussman's original library of clippings on a wide variety of subjects, including a large section of vintage publications, that he used as inspiration and information in his work. The clippings include advertisements as well as articles, and are sorted by subject or topic using Sussman's own filing system. Acquired as part of the John W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising & Marketing History.

Richard W. Pollay was Professor and Curator of the History of Advertising Archives at the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia. Collection includes audiovisual materials in multiple formats (audio and video cassettes, optical discs), clippings of articles and advertisements, pamphlets and other printed material, artifacts and ephemera (including apparel, cups, luggage, playing cards, promotional gifts and samples of tobacco packaging and candy cigarettes), photographs and slides, research reports, corporate documents, depositions and transcripts of court case testimony and other litigation-related materials. Topics include tobacco advertising and deceptive advertising practices; package labeling and health claims; cigarette marketing; manipulation of tar and nicotine levels; "light" and menthol cigarettes; lung cancer and other smoking-related health issues; smoking cessation and anti-smoking initiatives in the United States, Canada and internationally; tobacco industry manufacturing and marketing practices; smoking initiation and teenage and young adult smoking; and marketing of tobacco products to women and minorities. Collection comprises postcards, posters, and ephemera related to the Japanese military, as well as propaganda, and patriotism in the country between 1910 and World War II. Includes a postcard with patriotic children (1910's), postcards relating to the 1933 Army anti-air raid drill in the Kanto region, a New Year's greeting card celebrating the Nagoya Pan-Peace Exposition from 1937, and an advertisement for Sin-Japanese war bonds. Items dating from the 1930s include a postcard encouraging the public to save for the war effort, a life insurance flyer, an advertising packet for a conscription insurance policy, a 1936 brochure issued by the South Manchuria Railway of the Fushun Colliery, and a drug advertising propoganda leaflet showing the battlefield and home front. Material related to World War II includes a bank account passbook, a postcard from Italy that glorifies Japan, postcards with songs from a cavalry division and the 16th Infantry division, a confectionery wrapper, a wrapper for a whiskey bottle, an anti-communist print, a brochure for the Dong Bain Dao Development Company in Manchuria, and 44 propaganda posters. Several of the postcards were used and contain messages.

Consumer Reports is a product testing and consumer advocacy nonprofit organization based in Yonkers, N.Y., founded in 1936. The Consumer-Farmer Milk Cooperative was a dairy cooperative serving the New York City area, established in 1937 and operated until 1971. The Consumer-Farmer Milk Cooperative records include clippings, correspondence, facility documents, financial and tax reports, meeting minutes, newsletters, pamphlets and flyers, photographs, sales and distribution records and other printed materials that document the operation of the cooperative and its relations with government agencies, labor unions, supplier dairies and creameries and other associated organizations. Topics discussed in the records include community health, consumer education and protection, government regulation, housing settlements, milk grading and pricing, and milk depots for supply and distribution. Organizations represented include Associated Dairies (now ASDA), Belle Mead Creamery, Cooperative League (now the Twentieth Century Fund), Dairy Farmers Union, Farmers' Educational and Cooperative Union (later the National Farmers Union), Milk Consumers Protective Committee, Rutland Railroad, Sunnyside Consumers Cooperative, the Teamsters Union, and the United States Department of Agriculture.
