Charles Geneviève Louis Auguste André Timothée d'Eon de Beaumont, known as Chevalier d'Eon, was a French diplomat, spy, freemason and soldier who fought in the Seven Years' War. Collection comprises a dossier (approximately 75 pages) compiled by Chevalier d'Eon articulating his wish to forsake his female persona in order to fight in the American Revolutionary War. Also contains two portraits of Chevalier d'Eon.

Dr. J.H. Epperson (1889-1958) was a resident of Durham, N.C. and director of the Durham County Public Health Department. Collection comprises correspondence, clippings, and photographs relating to his life and career. Subjects in the many photocopied news clippings center around Durham public health and sanitation history in the early 20th century, including efforts to combat communicable diseases such as tuberculosis and venereal disease in both white and African American populations. Includes 19 black-and-white photographs, mostly local news photographs, among which are 1920s views of downtown Durham, N.C.; interiors of the new Health Department laboratory in 1915; portraits of nurses and other staff, several of whom are people of color; and a 1920s group photograph of twenty local midwives, chiefly African American or multiracial women.

Educational video on the history of Western medicine presented by the University of South Carolina's College of Library and Information Science as part of a workshop created by the library school specifically for students and professionals interested in medical history. Dr. Daniel Barron, USC Library School faculty, moderates a discussion with Lucretia McClure, Medical Library Special Collections, Harvard, and Dr. John Erlen, professor of History at the University of Pittsburgh, on issues in the study of the history of medicine. Interspersed with their comments are video segments that provide an overview of the evolution of Western medical knowledge and practices from Neolithic times to the 20th century. Account books, nearly complete, and office files, very incomplete, of the Erwin Mills textile mill, chiefly 1892-1967, and some personal papers of William Allen Erwin. The business files include letters, volumes, legal and financial papers, memoranda, printed material, reports, blueprints, and other records of the company.

John Ira Erwin was an undergraduate student at Trinity College from 1912 to 1916. The scrapbook includes autograph pages, photographs, clippings and memorabilia related to Trinity College athletics, arts and the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

Frank Espada was a political activist and documentary photographer of Puerto Rican extraction based in New York and California. His photographic archives comprise thousands of black-and-white photographs and negatives and related materials concerning Espada's lifelong work documenting the Puerto Rican diaspora, civil and economic rights movements, indigenous Chamorro communities in Micronesia, and HIV/AIDS outreach in San Francisco. The Puerto Rican Diaspora project also includes over 150 oral history recordings. The Civil Rights series documents voter registration and school desegregation rallies in New York City, 1964-1970, as well as housing and anti-poverty movements, primarily in California. Photographic subjects encompass Puerto Ricans, African Americans, and indigenous peoples, as well as whites and racially mixed people. The professional papers include files related to activism, research and writings, exhibits, teaching, and publicity. The earliest dated item is a 1946 essay by Espada, "What democracy means to me." Acquired as part of the Archive of Documentary Arts at Duke University.

The Estridge family owned The Hill, Lower Estridge's, and Bramble estates in St. Kitts, West Indies, as early as 1660 and through the nineteenth century. They originally hailed from Wiltshire, England. The collection consists of six volumes of plantation records, mainly account and expense books, as well as a scrapbook compiled by Henry Whatley Estridge collecting clippings from his father, George Estridge, and images of St. Kitts from 1896.

Eta Sigma Phi is the national honorary collegiate society for students of Classical Studies. The collection includes financial records, correspondence, membership lists, ritual documents, constitution, and printed matter. The material ranges in date from 1942-1967.

Ethel Tison Chaffin was born on January 13, 1921 in Natchitoches, LA. From childhood on, she took dance classes with a variety of instructors and, as a college student, studied dance at Louisiana State University, New York University, the University of Maryland, and Bennington College. Instructors included John Martin (former dance critic at the New York Times), Charles Weidman (Humphrey-Weidman Technique), Ethel Butler (Martha Graham Technique), and Nina Fornoff (Hanya Holm Technique). Ms. Chaffin also participated in master classes with Martha Graham and Katherine Manning. The collection contains the personal papers and dance-related memorabilia (circa 1930-1993) of Ethel Tison Chaffin. Materials include photographic prints, newspaper clippings, programs, and correspondence, which are housed within a scrapbook and one Hollinger box. Many of the materials are annotated by Ms. Chaffin.
